Computer Problems...

So, I got a new laptop..Dell Latitude D830, equipped with Windows Vista and I've got two problems :S

First problem is that while I am typing the curser will, at seemingly random intervals, dart all over the page and my typing ends up looking like gibberish.

Second problem has to do with iTunes...all my songs show up as Track 01, 02, etc. There's no info whatsoever with the songs..and for some unknown reason I can't upgrade to the most recent version of iTunes.

Any help appreciated :D

For you first problem, I think it may be that you are accidentally hitting the touch pad for your cursor.

As for the second problem, tracks that aren't mainstream (or cheaply produced) will probably be like that. You can always manually enter the name, artist, genre, etc. As for upgrading it, I'm not too sure about it.

yea the mouse/touch pad might be really sensitive when you touch it

secondly, not every CD you put into iTunes is gona have all the songs listed
i know i hate when that happens and so i gotta type in all the names lol
especially when theres like 20 songs haha

That finger thing in the middle could be the reason why my typing looks like it's foreign? I've tried slowing down my wpm, but that doesn't work. Could it be a virus?

I think apple are having troubles with iTunes lately (On vista) and you could go to the website and download the newest one there. As for the first problem there might be something wrong with the touchpad if you are using one. Maybe try plugging in a mouse and using that instead

Yes that is a main reason that you are touching the pad.
And also most CD's that ive downloaded into WMP and iTunes have that show up as track 1. Also those same CD's work in the car and have the track names show up. So im not really sure what happens with that. You can put them in manually while they are being downloaded (which i do. it doesent take long!) too. and if the touchpad is a problem you can turn it off if you go to the control panel then other hardware then mouse and you can edit the options if you want. I hope this helped!!

omg...that's slightly embarassing that my typing problem is because i'm nudging the touchpad and finger thing. lol. All you guys really helped :D thanks

but i've got a new question as i misplaced my setup guide :P lol i know..careless

how do i disable my touchpad? i like the fingerpad cause it works better for my lefthandedness lol

On my dell lapotop there's a little icon on the taskbar that you can click on that takes you to a control menu to turn it off. Check the screenshot attached:

Yours may be different but since its a dell like mine, it might be the same.

thanks Ant, but i don't have the same mouse image on my task bar like you do...i even searched mouse properties.. but i got nothing. i'll have to dig out that startup guide. lol

and on most computers that program is called synaptics pointing device. on almost every laptop ive seen that was the program. but that doesnt apply to apple. if you go to
Control Panel>Add remove programs and then wait for the list to populate and then search that list for the name of that program. if you dont see it then look for something that has a name similar. if you dont see anything then i cant help. sorry!

and ant thats the same program/menu i have. which is named above. and i wish i had a new laptop like you because i only have like 90mb left on my hard drive and i think my laptop is close to a crash
