Ok, so recently i was on the bus on the way home. And there was a sign beside me outside of the bus blocking the sun was a sign. I could see the outer edge of the sun i believe it's called the corona which was quite large. But i COULD NOT see the centre of the sun. so my question is, is it ok to look at the sun like i did as long as something is blocking the main part of it other than the rays? Cause now im worried i have partial eye damage although i can't tell a difference because my eyes always haven't been the best.

I think you're ok...it's not like you were looking for an extended period of time.

If your vision is fine now, then I think you're ok. Just try not to make a habit of it. =p

I believe you're going to need much more sun exposure to really damage your eyes. Don't make it a habit!

You're fine until you stare at the sun for long periods of time directly.
Best advice, don't look at the sun. If you accidentally do, it's probably not a big deal unless you can't see afterwards.

In other words. If you can see afterwards, keep staring. If you can't see, you're fucked.

NOT necessarily. You can just be temporarily blind :)

That's....that's not healthy at all. Don't stare at the sun, at least without polarized sunglasses.

I understand that but i know for a fact that the corona is alot safer, i just want to know if it can be dangerous or not.

Yes, it's dangerous. Are you going to gp blind because you looked at it for 1/2 a second? No.
What's happening is that the receptors in the back of your eye are literally being cooked from the strength of the sun's direct rays. Obviously before long that part stops working, and tah-dah! You have eye damage and/or blindness! :P
Moral of the story: Don't purposefully stare at it.
