Definitely tell someone. I think it is inappropriate and highly unprofessional for a teacher to speak like that.

Honestly, if your in America. That won't do much. The only way for a teacher to get fired (other than private school) is for Luce conduct with a minor or anything worse. A teacher can cuss all they want and they wouldn't get fired. It's all based off of the years they have worked for the school district. The more years they've worked at the school district the more "untouchable" they are. If you choose to tell someone like the Principle the only thing he can do is have a talk with the teacher saying she offended a student. Teachers should be payed from the quality of years and the quality of teaching they do, not by the quantity of years they've worked for the school district. This kinda makes me mad

She could easily lose her job for being biased or prejudice against a sexuality. If that's you goal to teach her a lesson, tell someone by all means.

It would really only be your word against hers. You've got nothing to gain by telling. Forget it

I don't think its worth reporting, she said it to another teacher not a student, its doubtful action would be taken. Its also likely if you tell someone and nothing happens they'll just see you as a trouble maker.
Just carry on as normal in her class and tbh in my view detention for fixing your hair is perfectly reasonable if the teacher was talking it shows she wasn't paying attention.

That's awful, but as another user already stated, it would just be your word against hers. She would probably come out on top because she's both an adult and a staff member. I think you just forget about it.

I would say to just forget about it. I think it's sad that she chooses to speak that way. Sometime, she'll probably say the wrong thing in front of the wrong person and they will see that she gets punished appropriately since she's willing to say that during a school play to another teacher. Do what you need to do to get through her class and move on.

^^ Even if you did report it, as you were the only one who heard it, it would be the Teacher's word against yours. Guess who the principal is gonna believe. You guessed it, the Teacher. Plus it would just put you in that teacher's bad books for a long time and she'll can make your schooling hell

In a perfect world, you could report her and it'd go over well in your favor. However, it's not going to happen in this world. However, you can report her actions in class, especially if you get classmates to back up your argument.
