Okay so I currently have an 80% in Algebra I. Today I took the final and I don't thing I did well on it :( If I don't get above an 80% on the final I can't move onto Geometry next year. I really want to take geometry next year.
So here are my options:
1. Take Algebra I again next year
2. Take a course over the summer at the nearby community college (my school doesn't offer Algebra I as a summer school class)
3. Get a private tutor over the summer.

The way it works in my school, if you get an 80% for the whole year and then get a 0 on the final (which I doubt you did) you'd end up with a 70 for the year. In my school, a 60 is still a passing grade. I don't exactly know what your passing grades are, but if you have an 80% in the class thats not bad at all, I don't know where you came to the idea that you're failing

well if I have to retake algebra that would be considered failing...

I think you should do #2. if you pass that course, would you be able to take Geometry next year?

yes, I would. Actually I would be able to do geometry next year if I do either #2 or #3.

ok, getting a tutor would not mean you instantly pass the class. I'm just confused as to how a 70% is failing

she failed to pass Algebra I and move on to Geometry. (xYz, am I correct? :p)
she needs a 80% to pass Algebra I and move on to Geometry

It's not failing. If I got below a C that would be failing. But my teacher will recommend that next year I take the class over again.

Ohhh!!! ok, you don't HAVE to take the class next year if she tells you to. If you want to get a tutor than go for it, take it from me, Geometry is a cake walk. Algebra II is a challenge, I finished Algebra I with a 87% and I ended up getting an 81% in II.

okay thanks for you for your opinion. :D
so do you recommend me getting a tutor at the lest so I don't totally bomb Algebra II?

I would definitely recommend that :)

That might be best, a lot of Algebra II extends from what you did in Algebra I, I learned that the hard way... stupid slope

I'm weird in a way. I can do harder stuff like quadratic equations and liner equations but I can't so systems :3

I liked quadratic ones, they were easy and I was good at them, as for systems, they can blow me

Getting a tutor would probably be a good idea. They might be able to explain things more clearly than what they have in class.

I would take the class at the community college if you have to retake it. I would hate to have to retake a class for a whole semester/year.

Okay here is the thing...
I got an F on the final and a 78% as an overall grade.
What should I do?? I real don't want to take it again next year but I'm not sure if a tutor is going to be enough...
Help :/

I'm confused on how just having a tutor will be enough for your school to recognize you've learned the information.
I stand by what I said and recommend re-taking it at the community college.

How is a 78% a failing grade?
For asking so much of your students, you Americans sure fail at educamation.
In law school a pass grade is 50 lol.

Some states (like mine) want students to get above a certain grade in math courses before moving on. For my state, Indiana, you must have a C in the class. A C- will result in you retaking that semester(s).

Wow, that's asking a lot. In Colorado since "No Child Left Behind" was repealed, it only has to be above and F. So a 60% is a pass. I never have to worry about that though, I am a straight A student. :P
