I need to stop cutting but it's so hard to. I've been cutting for about a few months to a year now and yes I draw blood. Having a river flow down my arms onto the floor creating an ocean of blood. It scares me and I feel like I have no control. I want to stop so bad. I cut myself when I get into a serious depressive mood/crying, or when my mind starts to race (Racing Thoughts/Bi Polar Disorder).
Any advice please? Please help? What do I do?
Thanks,
- Josh

I really wish i could help, i have been self-harming for 4 years now and cutting for about 1 year. It's hard to stop. The best thing you can do is find another coping strategy. Maybe go for a fun, take a hot/cold shower, read a book, listen to loud music, watch a movie, talk to someone. Anything to get your mind off of cutting. For me its writing out everything i feel and then getting lost in a good tv show or a movie. I know its hard but you CAN do it. how did you cope before cutting? maybe you could go back to those coping strategies. We are always here if you need to talk.

Today I am stopping. No more cutting for me. I have to, I'm hurting others and myself. I can do this, I can get through this tough time. But thank you for replying, you were a big help! :D

Good attitude and glad to hear you decided to stop doing that. Like others suggested, when you feel like doing that, go for a jog/run, work out, play basketball, turn on your favorite music (or something hard rocking like Led Zeppelin or The Who maybe...if you like that kind of music). Talking to other people you trust can help too.
