Almost a year into recovery and I gave into temptation and cut again. I always tell myself "just once" it never works. I always end up doing it again. Now I feel guilty and ashamed. I resisted the urges for so long. I guess recovery slips from time to time, and the only thing I can do it try harder next time. I forgot what a vicious cycle self harm is. Cut to deal with the numb feeling, cut to deal with the guilt, cut because I don't like feeling emotional pain, and repeat.

I as well have relapsed. I hate how the urges are stronger than I am :( I can only get up to a week then depression along with the urges devour me. Now I can't stop cutting. People slip and unfortunately will continue to slip as long as we stay weak :(

It's all about how you pick yourself up. If you genuinely want to stop, you have to expect the relapse, it happens, but you just have to keep fighting. It does get easier, trust me. One day you'll realise that you don't actually need it as much as you think you do. Just stay strong and resist the best you can and you'll get there. It's okay to feel guilty and ashamed, you're only human, it shows you do actually care what you're doing. As soon as you care, the sooner you know how to stop.

Like Siobhan said, relapses happen. You just have to pick yourself up again. Chances are you will relapse again, but each time you just have to start again. You made it so far, please keep pushing/
