Sorry, but that's not a friend...what he said is not a joke. If that rumor had gotten out, your grandfather could have been arrested and his reputation in town ruined, and it could tear your family apart. You should end the friendship with that person and not associate with that person anymore...what they did is not how a friend, and especially a best friend, should treat someone.

That is very sad, I can understand what you are going through.
