So my GoPro died after taking a hit about a month ago, and I've decided to get another one.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any online retailers?
The best price I've gotten so far is about $320 for the HERO Motorsport edition (with helmet mounts as I use it for motorbikes and mountain bikes).

Are there also any alternatives to GoPro? I never had any issues with my old one but if there is something else I'll look into it.

Thanks :)

I use a Contour HD helmet cam. Similar but has a smaller profile. They are in the same price range as the GoPro. Check Amazon or Ebay.

Thanks!
How do you find the wind noise on the mic? I've seen a few videos from one and the wind noise was shocking.

Depends, I use it for paintball so the noise of the shooting masks it i guess. I want a go pro too, that way i have a better first person perspective and then use the contour for something else. For motocross, you can mount the cam to the top of the helmet at a slight downward angle. I can't say too much until I get a Hero but Id go for it if you got the cash.

I bought mine at Best Buy for 300$, Wakesetter03.

It comes with the helmet mount, headstrap mount, battery, cable, tilt camera adjustor (I think), two covers (one for water, one for motorcross), 3 "GoPro Be A Hero" stickers, and the camera of course.
*You have to buy ur own memory card which is about 40$ on top of the regular price*
I may have missed one..

We haven't used ours yet, but I messed with it a bit and it is excellent.

I would recommend getting the Geek Squad coverage which is 80$ for 3 years and they cover everything. If it breaks, gets wet, anything; they will replace it. They also send u a new battery once the supplied one stops working.

Taylorxbox refers to an extended warranty when he says Geek Squad (doubt there are Best Buys in Australia. :] ).

Isn't using a GoPro on a bike helmet a little obnoxious? The Contour has a much smaller profile and less people will stare you for having a huge camera on your head. :P

I live near a motocross track and I play paintball, so I see both of them all the time. Most will notice and start talking to you or if you run into someone who also has one, you get that nod and grin. Both are fairly light so weight isn't a issue.

Yes, I was referring to the extended warrenty.

And I use mine on motocross helmets, not bike helmets. I also need it to be waterproof and stuff because of snow and all of the water and such with jetskiing.

Yeah, the price doesn't bother me, I'm just being a 'smart consumer' and going for the best price

That's strange, all of the ones I've looked at came with an 8GB SD card. Might be a country-based difference. Thanks for your help, I don't really bother with extended warranties. This will be my third, the other two having broken. They don't last long enough to get the warranty benefit :)

Haha, I downhill mountain bike, and as such wear a full face helmet. Same on the motorbike.
As someone said though, mostly people give you a nod with a GoPro, most people who are novices don't want to film their endeavors :)
I like the shape of the Contour, but I haven't any experience except from stuff online, and from what I can tell the wind noise is shocking.
Thanks for everyone's help. Once again I'm annoyed at my location, our dollar is killing the American dollar, yet we still get a huge surcharge over American prices. What a pain.
