Shamtellt Lopez, 18, was arrested on charges that she brought a dagger to Mill Creek High School.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police have charged a high school student with carrying a dagger on campus.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that police arrested 18-year-old freshman Shamtellt Lopez on Friday morning.

She's accused of carrying a dagger with a two-inch blade in the waistband of her jeans at Mill Creek High School.

Gwinnett Public Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana said Lopez showed the weapon to someone else, who then reported it to administrators.

She's charged with carrying a deadly weapon at a public gathering and carrying a concealed weapon.

18-year-old freshman? No wonder she's not smart enough to at least be subtle about it.

She's... something.

And I mean if you're going to carry a dagger to school, don't tell somebody about it.

She's kinda scary looking. And what kind of name is Shamtellt anyways? Were her parents on drugs when they named her?

I'm so glad this chick isn't my girlfriend. I can just picture my Mom's reaction if I brought her home for dinner.

Dont really see why you all think this is so shocking, I could probably point out the people at my school that bring weapons in regularly.

Not really. She didn't even do anything with it.

Well yeah, you wouldn't see a problem with it because you're used to either seeing or knowing people bring in weapons to your school daily. For a lot of people here, it's apparently unimaginable to bring a weapon to school.

Cremation, but then again you're still put in a coffin for that...anyway, this isn't shocking to me, the only shocking part to me is that it says 18 year old high school freshman...

I'm shocked someone would brag about a 2 inch blade. You can't even peel spuds with that size.

Please educate me, how old should a freshman be. And why is there never a freshwoman? Such a sexist educational system you have hehe

Freshmen generally turn 15 sometime during the school year.

I didn't read the part where it was a two inch blade. Hell, at my school that was ALLOWED. A blade wasn't considered a weapon until it was three inches or something. Everybody brought pocket-knives with them to school.

Wow, if that happened at my school there would be quite the shit storm to follow. My school is very strict with things like that, for good reason obviously.
