So, is it still possible/realistic to buy airline tickets with cash? I don't have a credit card (obviously) but do have enough money to fly somewhere. Also, will the security be ridiculously uptight because of this? Any and all info much appreciated!

In the UK you can still do, but they normally ask that you phone up the airport your planning on going to first just to confirm they have seats on the flight you want. Doesnt happen in every airport though or with every country, so best to phone them before hand

You book through a travel agent. The travel agent buys you the ticket but you pay them the cash first (a bit more expensive, but anyway). Dunno if you have that option?

I think you can... I would just go to a store and buy a prepaid visa, then just use that, basically the same thing as cash

This might be the best route, if your planning on doing this with cash, but as for security, what do you mean by this? Could you share a bit more details?

Actually booking a flight via travel agency is less expensive. Than straight with an airport. However if it's a last minute flight e.g you arrive on the day and buy a ticket then you will get the ticket at a fraction of what it costs.

Cash can't be traced, which is why, if I were, say, a terrorist, it would be a useful way of protecting my identity. Therefore, people get really suspicious when someone tries to pay for a ticket with cash.

I know for sure at my airport (Denver International Airport) that they don't even accept cash at the McDonald's so you will have to use a travel agent or go out and buy a prepaid debit card that you can order online or at almost any grocery store.
