Back in my home country, hunting was a "game sport" like fishing. It has its dangers and risks like every other sport.
Hunting should definitely be legal, but there should definitely be boundaries as to how far you can go in that. Hunting with a gun, yeah, if the environment allows for that (not in a small park close to a residential area lol).
There's really a lot to debate :D

I actually really dislike the idea of hunting for sport. Of course I understand hunting for food, but killing for your own entertainment and enjoyment is not something I like. I don't really like the idea of violence - hitting, fighting, etc - so the idea of killing for sport is just something I totally disagree with. I don't think it's something that should be considered a game, and I certainly don't think that younger people, especially children and teens, should be participating in.

Do you Guys think Hunting should be sport? Why? No, because you hardly even move around, and if it does help you excercise, then how does it?
Do you think hunting should be legal? Why? If it doesn't hurt me.
Do you think that you should be able to hunt with a gun? Why? Nooooo, you should hunt with a bow. ;)

See, it's not anything to do with physical activity that makes me not want to call it a sport, it's the fact that animals are just being killed for show and bragging rights, that's not very sportsman-like in my eyes.

I don't think making hunting a professional sport would garner that much attention. However, I do think it should be legal, but only in certain cases.
1. When the only source of food an individual has comes from hunting.
2. To control the population of a certain animal (deer, rabbit, etc.) so that they don't cause problems with the local area.
Now, when it comes to hunting for fun, I don't agree with that. Going out with the intention to kill just to kill seems alien to me. I think it would be a better practice, in these instances, to use tranquilizing darts, which wear off gradually and give the hunter enough time to leave the area.
Obviously one can hunt with a variety of tools, so it should be legal to do so with a gun (if in cases of population control or food gathering). When the situation of hunting for fun comes into play, however, it should be illegal to hunt with a gun when tranquilizers can be used instead. If you can hunt with a gun, you can hunt with a tranquilizer gun.

as long as people use what they kill then i dont really care. I dont think hunting should be a sport unless the meat is used. using the skin would also help but i think it's ok if it's not used. Hunting with a gun is fine but i personally prefer a bow.

I do not agree that as a sport it should be done, unless as Rocky said, it is not just gone to waste. Hunting is fine though as a pure source of food, and guns are fine with me. Guns are for the lazy though. It takes less skill to use a gun than any other form of hunting.

Do you Guys think Hunting should be sport? Why? It should. It is competitive, and surely not easy. You gotta invest in the hunting gear and have certain predispositions to do the job. It's not a point and shoot thing.
Do you think hunting should be legal? Why? Yes, in my country hunting is limited to hunting areas that are closed by fences with proper warnings. Also, the hunting season lasts only a few months and hunting outside of it is strictly prohibited. Last, there are enormous taxes that you have to pay to the hunters' clubs for every animal you kill. So it's not like you'll shoot at everything that moves but rather choose one animal over an other.
Do you think that you should be able to hunt with a gun? Why? I have no real opinion on this one. People have hunted with a helping hand for centuries. Only thing is the helping devices developed...

I believe that hunting is a lot more humane than buying factory farmed meat. You know that the animals have lived their lives naturally. However, I do not believe that hunting should be a sport. I believe that killing animals is sad, very sad only, and yes, people can have meat as a source of energy and it is one of the best ways to get that energy.

Hunting is natural. It's how every predator has gotten their food since life has been around. We can't just end something that has been going on for so long. Life has adapted to survive with natural selection and to control it's population. If we stopped, there would be major over population from deer, moose, boar, etc. In the western part of my state you are basically guarunteed to see deer when you're going down the road.

Hunting for sports? Do it with wooden spears and knives carved out of stone, not guns. Maybe then I will have an honest respect for "Hunters". And then I will consider human as predators and not abusers of technology. It gives a fair fight between the prey and the predator.

Seriously some people should jump off their hippie cloud.
Who cares if hunters use weapons. I'd rather eat a hunted animal that has fought for his food than farmed one poisoned with all kinds of chemical substances. Also, you can be sure most of the time hunters will end the life of their prey before it can even start suffering.
I know a few hunters and they all told me that in case they wounded an animal that started escaping they'd search for it and kill it so it doesn't die of suffering. Way better than slicing to pieces living animals at farms.

I wouldn't consider it a sport but I think it should still be legal just well regulated so criminals can't get a hold of them. And it's the 21st century, nobody is going to use anything besides guns to hunt.

Do you Guys think Hunting should be sport? Why?-As a hunter, I do not think hunting should be a sport. It could easily lead to over-hunting, and, personally, I think it would somewhat tarnish the tradition of going out not to have fun (although it is) but to provide food for the family.
Do you think hunting should be legal? Why?-Obviously, I'm going to say yes. As long as the hunter respects what they are hunting (clean kills, not killing too many, etc), hunting is fine and is also one of the only ways to get truly pure meat without any of the antibiotics or stuff they give to the mass produced livestock.
Do you think that you should be able to hunt with a gun? Why?-There is nothing wrong with hunting with a gun in my opinion. Truthfully, bow hunting is more primal and requires more knowledge and experience, but is not as efficient as hunting with a gun. When your only objective is meat, time is important, and it is easier to kill something with a gun than with a bow.
On a side note, they basically already have sport hunting, trap shooting. And yes, its not truly hunting, but it's as close to hunting as you can get without actually shooting an animal.

Do you Guys think Hunting should be sport? Why? Yes, because sport actually means an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual competes for entertainment or against another team . It's also very competitive, trying to get a certain amount of fur or meat. But I also believe that hunting should only be a sport if nothing goes to waste, which means you eat the meat, use the fur, and whatever else which can be salvaged.
Do you think hunting should be legal? Why? Yes, because some people depend on hunting as survival. It also helps the economy.
Do you think that you should be able to hunt with a gun? Why? Yes, because if a hunter gets in a sticky situation which means his life or the animals, he needs something to defend him.

Oyay-yay! I love it when I see the deer's skull splintered into pieces and it's brain spreading around --
Oh shit, people are looking, gotta salvage some food to look as if I am doing this for my survival because there aren't any markets in the vicinity of my house and we live on half rations issued by the government.

I guess the only reason why I wouldn't condone hunting for food is because I'm against guns being sold to individuals as a whole. But hunting for sport regardless of gun law is something I'd be against, purely because the main point of the game is to show that humans have the capability of wiping out other species. Well, that's pretty obvious. I don't think you need to take away the lives of relatively helpless animals to prove it, it's pretty much a done deal. There's plenty of other sports you can play that don't involve murdering other species against their will.

I understand hunting for food , I mean that's a given ( even though I could never actually do it myself) If hunting were to become a sport I think I would lose any respect for the people taking part in it. Killing for the sake of killing just seems wrong and in my opinion is wrong. It's kind of like saying we should totally start televising our own Hunger Games once a year.

Hell yeah bro i agree with you fully. And also to that difficulty statement by that other dude, yes a gun might be easier than a bow in some ways. 1 a gun can back-fire. 2 a gun has recoil, 3 a gun weighs more. 4 a gun makes alot more noise 4 a gun is way more complicated, it takes a master at guns to repair one, while a bow is easier than hell. And trapping really shouldn't be considered hunting.

well i hunt and i dont say its a sport. everything we kill we use to eat and if we have no space for it we give it away. the whole gun thing yes you can hunt with a gun now depending how big the area is should limit the gun. now i started hunting at 14 but i learn alot about guns and how to use them and whats the right and wrong. so i say you should be able to you a gun but only if you go throw the hunting safety course and feel ok handling a gun.

Do you Guys think Hunting should be sport? Why? Yes. Hunting is a great sport and brings people together. Everyone has a great time and bonds are built. It is also fun and strategy is needed most of the time. You also get plenty of excercise. And like Zack said, everything we kill we eat. It's not like we just kill it and throw it.
Do you think hunting should be legal? Why? Yes. It's been here for years and it's a fun activity/sport to do. It should be legal. -Now as far as people shooting way past there limit, that I am against. That needs to monitored better.
Do you think that you should be able to hunt with a gun? Why? Of course. Guns are fun and it's good to know how to use one. I think using a bow would be more challenging, but a gun is more fun in my opinion.

I agree completely.
I'm all for animal rights and I think hunting is horrible unless you're lost and you desperately need to eat something. I don't understand how people think it's fun to do and I never will. Animals have children, mothers, fathers, and beating hearts just like us. I wouldn't want my mom to be taken away from me because someone decided to kill her for fun. To me, it doesn't make a difference if you eat it or not, that's what supermarkets are for. Go get yourself an already murdered cow.
It should be illegal everywhere unless you're in need of food.

And then have whole species die out because they get outbred/attacked etc. by other species?
Most hunters do it for fun and/or food but it also serves a purpose: Keeping a balance in nature.
Your opinion is terribly naive and short-sighted, people like you would actually be the cause of the extermination of certain species while you think you're defending it.
Most hunters actually love, care and know about animals and nature a lot more than you self-proclaimed animal activists/lovers.
Also, you can't seriously compare humans to other animals.

"Hunting is not a sport. In a sport, both sides should know they're in the game." -- Paul Rodriguez
Honestly, I really have no problem with hunting if it's for food or just to keep a stable balance in nature, but if it's just for the hell of shooting an animal, well, I have an extremely different opinion on that.
