WWDC is June 11 and Macbook Pros should be released soon after that however I would expect iMacs and Airs to come out first check out MacRumors.com

Don't depend on MacRumors.

I've been having betting games with friends over the past 2 or 3 years (We're such nerds, I know..) and basically place bets on hardware changes and refresh time periods. It's funny because I win most of the time.

Anyway, we'll definitely see lots at WWDC. I'm less than impressed right now though. Ivy is less promising than was promised. The only really advancement I can see is in the graphics department and whether Apple chooses AMD 7xxx or 650M Kepler, it's bound to be a great leap ahead of what is currently offered (excuse my French, it's shit and almost disappointing)

Retina will only have more strain on graphics performance which isn't near outstanding.
A slimmer profile will lead to more heat (and my '11 MBP runs hot enough)
Killing off ethernet, firewire AND optical bay. Sure, it's bound to happen, but it's really too soon.

The only good thing, there's a very good hint of SSD. But heck, they're available for any other Mac out there.

I agree about not depending on them but it's a start. There are also rumours that they will switch back to Nvidia which could be good. I don't really think retina is that great either, however it will be invaluable when editing photos or other things. I really hope they have Firewire and Ethernet as I depend on them, however, I think that the time is nearing when optical media will be killed off completely. I'd support it if it meant better performance and/or battery life seeing as you can buy external drives if you really need them.

WWDC could have hardware announcements like with the refreshed MBA in Oct 2010 however might not, in which case new models would (hopefully) follow in the weeks after WWDC.

As far as actual release dates, i'd say around summer. That's when they plan on releasing Mountain Lion OS (10.8), and It seems logical that they release a computer update along with their software update. Just my two cents though.

This definitely seems the most plausible to me, especially because it's Apple.

I doubt they're doing that. That's what the Air is for :P

I could go without the optical drive, i never use it anyways, I'm just waiting on it, I'm getting one for college, but if it's not out by august 16th, I've got a three year old dell that will suffice until I can get it shipped...
