Me being an atheist i dont know some people trust me some people dont. I think the people that are super religious dont like us because they actually do believe an ultimate god as where we dont. They probably wouldnt trust because of that reason alone.

Some people equate atheism with moral bankruptcy, therefore someone might not trust an atheist to make moral decisions.
I am not one of those people, and would actually say that I tend to trust atheists more.

Yeah, a recent-ish survey found that people (Americans?) think that atheists are less trustworthy than rapists (http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/2011/11/16/new-research-says-anti-atheist-prejudice-stems-from-distrust/).

I wouldn't imaging most people would because I am sure that not many people go around asking what religion others follow and I don't really think that being one religion versus another will make people distrust you or look at you any differently, but I don't know.

Fuck, that is incredible. Plus, since they mentioned University of British Columbia I'm guessing this was done in Canada? Or.. not? One should know the country in which this was carried out and the sample size. Just for validity's sake.

Do people distrust atheists? Well, if they do I'm not sure why. I'm Atheist, but I actually think of myself as very trustworthy. At least, I'm no more trustworthy than someone who practices a religion. Atheism can actually back itself up with science and evidence. So perhaps its Atheism people should be trust a lot more.

Humans will always distrust what doesnt agree with them, and will always try to explain things even though they can't. I have nothing against those that practise religion, especially those brought up in religious households with no other option, but I contest this;
"I contend that we are both atheists, I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all other possible God's, you will understand why I dismiss yours." Sir Stephen F Roberts.

I think that an atheist viewpoint is more un-biased. If I want an honest straight forward answer, I'll ask an atheist. But if I want a moral opinion or an opinion with values I'd ask someone of my own religion.

It depends partly on the environment you're sitting on. Most of my friends, who are supposedly 'devout' Catholics, are very lukewarm with my belief as an Agnostic. Since they are my friends, it isn't particularly harmful to tell them. There is a certain distrust even with them, but all in all, they don't usually bring the topic of Religion on the table. One of them said to me it's not too late to change. He's gonna get disappointed. :lol3:
I don't give it a second thought; we're hardwired to be hostile to those we consider not within our circle, and in this case, those that do not share our beliefs, in the first place. Why care? We're all human, after all. Beliefs or not.
I don't trust atheists because I used to be one.
Ha! I used to be a Catholic and now I don't trust Clergymen and those other bigots who kill the secularism in this country. Returning to what I've said, we're naturally hostile to those who do not share our dogmata. Only the recent surge of tolerance masks it beneath a layer of social norms.

It isn't tht we distrust them. It's that people don't get why Athiests don't believe in a God. Have they been failed by God? If they have, then why do they not ask for repentance? Do they not like or believe in what a religion does? Well, then pick another religion. Religion plays a major role in life, and being an Athiest is like telling god "I don't need you. You are unworthy of me. I am higher than you." That's really asking for it...

I'm a Christian, and I don't have any problem with atheists. But I'm not really a diehard Christian either. I think the idea that atheists don't have morals is ridiculous, everyone has morals. Not all Christians are nice people, so how can all atheists be evil or immoral? It's your right to choose what you believe or don't believe in, and in the ideal world there should no judgement for what you do choose...

Atheist don't believe in God, because there is not a single ounce of reasons to believe in one. It's simple as that.
And no. They don't like what religion do. And no, humans will be just as fine, or even better without religions.

I am a Christian and I do not distrust Atheists. I respect other people's religions, and believe modern day Christianity to be screwed up. It's not supposed to be about judging everyone and condemning the sinners. We are all sinners. It is supposed to be about following in the footsteps of Christ and unconditionally loving everyone, regardless of who they are and what they believe.

That's not my point. I know that little fact of yours. I pretty damn well know that Scandinavian nations are the least religious.
Why I mention Anders is because he is a right-wing Christian fundamentalist who lives in a nation where majority are atheists.

Hitler was born catholic indeed, not strange since he was born in Austria, but as an adult he never went to church, and he actually found christianity a weak and pathetic religion, he was quite hostile to catholicism and the pope as well, you're partially right on his followers though, most of them were protestant middle-class North-Germans (though almost everyone was religious back then).

So, you simply hate an Albanian just as the same as a Moroccan because they share the same religion i.e Islam, and for no other reasons? Doesn't seem quite smart or well justified as the way I see it.

Actually, the media has been leaning to the left side most of the time here.
And my hatred is anything but blind, I and many other Europeans didn't hate them at all before personal experience and interaction.
This can also be seen for example in how upper class people tend to vote left/pro-immigration/pro multi-kulti, because they haven't experienced the trouble that these immigrants bring yet themselves.

Atheists are relentless and try to say their opinion, no matter what is right just because they have "proof", and religions, "don't" have that "proof". You call me a frantic follower, what about you, believe whatever scientists tell you because you are weak minded liberals, and say, "Oh, my opinion's right, we have homologous structures, embryonic development, and fossils. You have nothing." How are atheists allowed to teach their opinion in school, but not an in-depth look at religion, how is that not biased." Murdoc, this goes for the "Is it child abuse to teach children religion" argument too.

The scientific theory of Evolution has nothing to do with Atheism. That thoery is not an opinion. It's a fact. It's that there are some Stoneheads who find to difficult to accept it because it contradicts a 2 millennia old bronze age sripture.
And this goes for Liberalism. Absolutely has nothing to do with Atheism.
