View Full Version : Ten reasons why gay marriage should be banned

This is all over the internet, but in case you haven't seen it:
Top ten reasons given to ban same-sex marriages :(
1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester and air conditioning.
2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
?3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all like many of the principles on which this great country was founded; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of marriages like Britney Spears’ would be destroyed.
6) The only valid marriages are those which produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.
7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.
9) Children can never succeed without both a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy or longer life spans.

1) Being homosexual is totally natural...there is well documented homosexual behavior in animals.
2) being tall or not is genetic..being gay or not it's not
3)i think there is a large diffrence between marry a human being and a pet...
4) homosexuality has been around the world for a long time ...in fact there is documentation about homosexuality in ancient Greece
5)Marriage is only meaningless if the couple don't love each other
6)Marriage is about love not capability to have children
7)Homosexual people came from straight parents... otherwise they couldn't be conceived
8)Not all people believe in God...therefore they don't have to be what God wants them to be
9)I have a mother and a father and i use as a role model my father and not both
10) New social norms??? why?
I'm a bit homophobic ( i really don't like gay's who show too much how much gay they are) and i'm catholic and i don't see any problem in gay marriage
I don't think it should be banned

I am so super against this law that they're trying to make. Like you sort of pointed out, it's stupid. Love is love is love; They just don't want to look bad or whatever. I hate that the government is trying to control our entire lives. If I want to marry my girlfriend someday, they're not gonna stop me. Bring it.

Really, really, REALLY!? How about people get a life and stop meddling in others' affairs.
Oh, so you're against gay marriage?
Tell me how it directly affects your life...
Thats my usual line I put in to those shallow minded idiots.

I know that it wasn't his opinion, I was just making my argument against the shallow minded fools that would make this kind of argument.
Sorry for apparently raising a few eyebrows, I was a bit pissy re-reading what i've written.

He wasn't joking, he quoted something he saw on the internet.
that's all. he just didn't say that he found it.
but there is no reason it should be banned.

I read this before and that it was hilarious. It makes you wonder how someone against gay marriage would respond to these points. On a more serious note, I'm not surprised that these obviously bigoted laws are getting passed. Rick Santorum actually compared gay sex to incestual marriage and adultery, and he had somewhat strong support in the conservative primaries!

What if I said "I don't like straight people who show too much how straight they are"? Wouldn't make too much sense would it.

even if its joking or not, the only reason anyone will be hatin on gays and bi's is cuz of that stupid shit people call religion, that's what starts war, and i am also very ant-bullying,so for somebody to be that homophobic is just stupid and have no self-esteem

I still don't understand the legalization. Being equal means you should get equal job opportunity and stuff.

Entirety of the OP .
10 Reason's why I disagree with the OP. All mean't in a non offensive manner
1) Eyeglasses, polyester and air conditioning have been accepted worldwide. Even, dare I say it: in Islamic communities. Which do not agree with homosexual practices. There is no link here.
2) You do not become taller by hanging around somebody who is tall. Naturally impossible.
3) Crazy behaviour is all around us. Gay marriage or not.
4) I'm not sure about South Africa, but many countries have repealed/amended/implemented (as appropriate) such laws regarding women's rights, mixed race marriages and divorce.
5) Britney Spears has no issue with lesbian/ gay relationships. She even played a lesbian character in a tv programme.
6) The world has billions of people. There's no room in the inn. There is no baby shortage.
7) Straight couples don't just raise straight children. Neither does a gay couple raise a gay child.
8) Gay marriage may not be supported by religion. But does the bible not say "Love thy neighbour" Doesn't specify gender.
9) I don't see my dad anymore. I have turned out ok.
10) The last 500 years have shown incomprehensible changing social norms. Humans have also adapted to cars. Heck, some people even know how to drive, fix or build more of them. There are over a billion in the world.
I do not understand where you bring your opinions from. BTW I support gay marriage.

It's hilarious how many people either:
A. Didn't even read the list
or
B. Didn't get the fact that it was completely sarcastic and making fun of people who are against gay marriage.
I don't know whether to laugh or facepalm :P

Firstly can I apologise for being too quick tempered. Had I understood it was sarcasm I wouldn't haven't reacted the way I did. I just take post's literally on here. Unless the topic is stupid like someone saying "The planet Earth ended last week."
Again, my apologies.

Why do you care who marries who? They aren't running up to you, and screaming "WE'RE GAY AND MARRIED, BITCH!" Get over it..
