View Full Version : Dehydration?

So my lips have been really, really dry for three days, even though I use vaseline and lip balm compulsively. I've had this headache for two days. I'm hardly urinating at all (tmi, I know), and I'm really dizzy, lightheaded, and weak. I also had a bad wave of nausea a little bit ago. Could this be dehydration, or something else?

I'd almost definitely say you're dehydrated, as I suggested in your other thread. How much water do you drink on a daily basis? And if you're drinking other drinks besides water, is it soda? Sugary drinks? If so, cut back on those, and drink up on the water, it's the most natural drink you can get and it's a fairly quick fix to dehydration :P When you're feeling thirsty, and it doesn't need to be only when you're totally parched, have a glass of water instead of soda or a sugary drink, or alcohol if that's the case. If it's something that you're noticing over longer periods of time, like days and days, I would definitely go to see your doctor, just to be safe.

I usually drink maybe a bottle of vitamin water in a day. But apparently that doesn't count as real water. I drink a lot of tea and diet soda, so it's not sugary, but it's probably not exactly healthy. It's been going on for three days as of today.

Try drinking at least five glasses of water tomorrow, and cut the diet soda out of your diet. See how that goes, if you're still feeling like this I'd talk to your doctor. Also, Vitamin water is pretty sugary, and not only could it actually contribute to your dehydration, but it will rot your teeth right out of your head.

I'll try. Thank you.
I do only drink vitamin water zero though. Does it still have the sugar in it?

Vitamin Water is loaded with sugar:
There are about 13.5 grams of sugar per serving, which may not seem like a whole lot, but each bottle has 2.5 servings in it, which makes it 33.75 grams of sugar per bottle, which is a ridiculous and unneeded amount of sugar. It's actually compared to a lot of sodas health wise, and it's really just bad for you overall. Vitamin Water Zero contains less calories than regular Vitamin Water, but that's really it.

Yeah he said it, unless its pure water than its got lots of other stuff in it, can't beat normal water. Tea, soft drink and alcohol will all dehydrate you. If you are feeling thirsty, then you are already in a state of dehydration.

Like Mike said, water. If you really like Vitamin Water, just do what I do to counter-act the sugar dehydrating you and drink water along with it to counteract it.

First and foremost drink a lot of water throughout the day. It is recommended that the average person should drink AT LEAST 8 8oz glasses of water a day. Second, cut back on any drinks with caffeine, such as tea and soda. Caffeine is a diuretic, meaning it increases the rate of water expulsion from the body, which is not good for someone who is already dehydrated. So just drink a lot more water and cut back on caffeinated drinks and you should be good. However, I would recommend seeing a doctor just in case, like ImCoolBeans suggested.

Thanks, everyone. It's hard to remember to drink water. Which sounds odd, but is true. But I'm working on it.

I know what you mean, it's not something you usually think about, so it's kind of weird to put it into the regiment :P Just try and keep it in mind

One thing you can do is just carry a bottle around with you. It makes it easy to get and it will remind you to drink. I go through a few bottles/glasses a day.

That's a good idea.
