Theres this new kid at school who claims to be "pansexual." I'm FULLY aware that this is going to come up in conversation. Alot. I googled it, and i'm still confused. I don't want to come off rude in ignorance. Can anyone explain?

Pansexuality is when you are emotionally and physically attracted to any orientation. You can be attracted to gays, lesbians, straight people, bi people, trans people, intersex people, asexual people, basically you can fall for anybody.

I always thought it was like bisexual, but more specific. Bisexual is being attracted to male and female only, claiming that there are only two. There's not. We got hermaphradites, transsexuals, etc. So pansexual is being attracted to someone regardless of what gender or orientation they are? So a pansexual girl can be attracted to a gay guy?

You don't need to be pansexual to be attracted to a gay guy. I'm attracted to straight girls, that's got nothing to do with it. :3

Eh. I see where you're coming from, but it's actually a quite honourable orientation. So assuming that I'm not a lesbian for example's sake, not only would I not care female or male, but I wouldn't mind someone who cross-dresses, is of the third sex, etc. And a surprising amount of people would never date people like that unfortunately. I just really don't understand it. :/ But I did identify pansexual in the past. I've even had that discussion with my mum and she would leave if my dad cross-dressed. Which is weird to me, because I would be able to very easily accept that (of course, I'm an extremely accepting person though), especially if I was with someone for eleven years like that. But you see it on Jerry Springer and all that shit and it's apparently a bad thing to find out your husband likes to wear women's clothing. I mean, it's who they are? And you're in love with the person, not the face or the genitals. It doesn't compute with me. :P
Of course, people who are heterosexual probably have more of an aversion to that anyway, while bisexuals are a little less so. But it still leaves me baffled. I guess it just freaks some people out.
