IQ tests are extremely innacurate! - They only work when you are between like 20 and 30! The way they are calculated make people younger than that seem like geniouses and older seem like they are mentally challenged.

The way they are figured is that you take the age that you function at (Chronological Age) and divide it by your actual age and then multiply it by 100.

(Chronological Age / Actual Age) x 100 = IQ

Here is how it is flawed...

A 13 year old that functions at the level of a 18 year old; (18/13) x 100 = 134.5... That's incredibly high!

Say there is a 50 year old man whose brain functions as a 25 year old. That is normal and perfectly healthy! his IQ would be; (25/50) x 100 = 50 (That is mentally retarded folks)

They don't have children and adults on the same scale or even on the same test. There are several different types of tests to determine IQ, but they all differentiate between ages. What you're describing may be the method for one of the bogus internet tests, but it is by no means an official method of determining IQ. Plus, most of the internet IQ sites are just interested in selling your name and email to other companies.
Oh, and the median, not the mean, IQ is 100.

John, he is correct, I am a Psychology minor, that is how we are taught to administer IQ evaluations...and yes, there are only three to four different methods that are used and many of them depend on the person administering it.

That is why it is suggested that a psychologist administer the test.

False. I study this matter as a Psychology major, I am qualified to teach this subject as well. The tests are different (depending on the age group being tested) but the formula remains the same... it is the formula that is flawed.

I would not waste my time studying an internet IQ test that was probably thrown together in someones spare time.

The average (mean) IQ is 100... The median is the middle number of a data set. They are very close though.

If you want me to take an IQ test, fine. But I'll tell you this, it's a waste of time and completely untrue. There's no way to truly level intelligence, and I'll stick to that thought.
