Firstly, making new friends, you could join some sort of club, or arrange to meet a few people up and you may meet some more people. From my experience, girls quite like shy guys, although being too shy is bad because girls usually like guys to make the first moves.

There's nothing wrong with being shy or reserved, you just have to make sure you can still let your feelings show. That's the biggest mistake people make, I think.
