Don't read this if you don't want to, I say some gruesome stuff, but I kind of need help:

So I've had a cough since April 2011. I have been to the doctor's a few times, one doctor seems to think I have asthma, but I'm not so sure about that. I've been given an inhaler which does nothing. Also I have slightly too much mucus between my nose and my throat which I try to swallow every few minutes because I just cough otherwise. I've had an x-ray in October 2011 and there was nothing wrong with my lungs or respiratory system, the doctor said it was perfect. And btw I've never smoked, taken drugs or had alcohol in my life.
I'm kind of getting worried about it as I've been coughing for like 13 months... I'm pretty sure I don't have lung cancer or cystic fibrosis as the doctor couldn't find any problems on my x-ray...

Do any clever, medical, knowledgeable people out there have any ideas what's wrong with me and what I can do to help myself?

Hey Sam, what your going through sucks. X-Rays of the lungs are pretty crap, as most of the stuff going on, can not be seen on x-ray. It could be thousands of things, and if multiple doctors can't put their finger on it, then there's no way I can say what it it. If it were me, I would ask for a referral to a respiratory specialist, and go see a expert in that area. All the best.

This is probably the best advice you could receive about this. I think getting a referral to a respiratory specialist is the smartest and best option for you, and for your health. Hope all goes well.
