I told my mom that I was bi about two hours ago.

There was no yelling or anything, she didn't call me a dike or a fag or any hurtful names

But the way that she responded when i said "mom, I'm bi"

she was like

"WHAT?"

...idk, the tone of voice hurt me.. bad :[

Yeah, I can see what.

You might have just caught her off guard. How did things go after that?

Don't worry at the moment. The main reason she may have reacted like this is because she probably had plans for you. She may also be one of these people who doesn't believe in bisexuality so she may think you are gay which links into my previous point of her having plans for your life (kids, wife, marriage etc). Just give her time to take the news in and she should be okay. Congrats on coming out anyways :)

You just told your mom something very personal..I would be a bit shocked, too. I'm sure she just needs to process it.
(Note, I'm not saying there's something *WRONG* with being gay, I'm gay myself, but..it's definitely something that will surprise people. So it's understandable.)

yeah i'd give her time. i'm sure she'll come around, but i can understand how that would hurt you. not getting approval from the people we want it from most in life really sucks.
