Hi All.,
First I just want to say I love the site Virtual Teen (VT). But I have some questions!
1. Why are there two Virtual Teen HQ’s?
2. Has Virtual Teen Got a Help Desk? (More information below relating to this point)
3. Is there a Thread to explain what the Help Desk is?
4. Is there a Newbies Section, dedicated to helping new members?
5. Why is “introductions” in General Section(At first I couldn’t find it had to scroll for it)
6. What information is there for Newbies?
That’s pretty much all the questions I have for now.
*In my second question above I have asked is there a Help Desk! My point on this is that I think Virtual Teen HQ the Second [see layouts further on for diagram] should be renamed “Help Desk”
Why? Well i got very confused when trying to figure out the layout of VT. When I was looking at the control bar I was getting lost by the two VT’s I did not cop on that it was a Sub Forum.

So in order to have it non confusing Having it like so would be better

Im presuming the point of having the first Virtual Teen HQ is to have it as the main Forum
The Second one just makes no sense to me. .
What is a Help Desk you may ask? I have created a document which can be found here which outline the role of the help desk. Mainly pointing out that the role of the help desk is a place where users can contact admins. Or using the same title as below

You may have noticed I mentioned about a Newbies and FAQ section
This section well its as basic as it say it is. For newbies to the site and FAQ’s for them
I think it should contain the Thread
[Sticky] Welcome to Virtual Teen (Which can be found within the ‘Introductions’ Section)
[Sticky] FAQ & Guidelines
[Sticky] Introductions
[Sticky] Right place to post
[Sticky] Blogs

Below I have included a layout of the current and added extra’s layout to VT
www.virtualteen.org/forums (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums)
└> Virtual Teen Head Quarters(HQ)
└>[Sub Forums] => Announcements
š Help Desk[Virtual Teen HQ]
š Suggestions
š VT Job openings
š Newbies & FAQ’s
š Virtual Teen Chat

HELP DESK
[Sticky] – What is the Help Desk?
[Sticky] – Virtual Teen T&C(Rules) [should contain links to FAQ’s and Virtual teen Help Desk(HQ) FAQ’s

There are a few link i have to add to give information as to what im talking about normally in the [HERE] part(s). but i have to type them up. Just remember this is all a suggestion.

Thanks for your time reading

would people read them though? :/

maybe changing the forum section "Virtual Teen HQ" to Help Desk is a good idea. I agree with that one.

HELP DESK
[Sticky] – What is the Help Desk?
[Sticky] – Virtual Teen T&C(Rules) [should contain links to FAQ’s and Virtual teen Help Desk(HQ) FAQ’s

again this is a good idea, but some people might not even bother reading them...

Why is “introductions” in General Section(At first I couldn’t find it had to scroll for it)

where else would it be?

You're suggesting changing something that has mostly stayed consistent and has functioned perfectly for about 8 years. I think change would be a more confusing thing

I agree with Jon, if it's not truly broken, don't fix it.

Also is it possible you could change the text of your original post as it is really hard to read the text.

Who said it to me change is always good. Fair enough but have people taken notice. Ive been here for 4 years and its only this time round im going to fully learn to navigate my way around this site.

But Having 2 VT HQ's makes no sense(IMO) Users may be more inclined to use it if they knew without reading the subtitle(Today was my first day to realise there was a subtitle:whoops:) Anyway these are all just suggestions im not trying to take over the world :P

That sounds like a lot of work for the admins and a lot of confusion for the members.

Not really . All the admins have to do is change the title(s). I would write up the threads and most of the threads are there already. I have to write them up anyway for myself.

Can i get feedback from you as to what you would find/think could/would cause confusion. Please if you wouldn't mind :whoops: .

1. Users that are used to the standard layout would not know where all of the forums are.

2. The admins would have to change the forums' name sometime, and i have always seen some members online at all times. They could see this problem when they can't get on some parts of VT.

3. They could also shut down VT temporarily to change it, but that would be confusing also. People wouldn't like/know that it's gone just for a while, they may think it's permanent.

4. Any technical difficulties that may occur from forum changes.

I wouldn't say these are the issues, implementing it is very straightforward and not really an issue at all. I just don't see any reason why we would implement it though.
