This. If you enjoy a sport involving cardio, playing it is a great way to have fun whilst still enjoying the benefits of cardio. The lawn mowing thing is a good idea, but if you have a large piece of land with a ride-on lawn mower or a service that does it, it may be hard to arrange.
I know a lot of cardio can get boring, but you just have to keep it fresh so you don't get accustomed too it. Change your route, change from running down your street and around town to in a park. If you cycle and have a bike capable, find somewhere where you can take it off road and mountain bike instead of riding on the road.

Running/Jogging is the best, it gets all your systems fired up quicker than other cardio, and if you run for say 30 minutes, you may have to cycle for over a hour and a half to get to the same level as running. I tell people to Jog mostly (3 times a week), then cycle for 2, then rest 2. The cycling is still being active, but giving your body time to repair while not being so intense. Swimming is excellent for working out, and can replace cycling, it is awesome cause it works muscles that other exercises can't and is great for core strength. You gain results only if you rest, so a minimum of 2 rest days is essential.
Any other details let me know, and I can work through specifics if you want :)
