ok, i regularly trim my pubes, but yesterday, i decided to shave them off. What the heck, right?. Well now it is super itchy and red bumps where the hair would be. What is this? and how can i treat/further prevent this?

You just need to be careful and go slowly with the razor while doing it. Be gentle and try to shave with the direction the hairs go to prevent ingrown hairs. For the itch and redness, you can put a warm wash cloth on the area to sooth it, and calm it down. when it's dry you could also put either lotion or a little bit of baby powder on the area to also sooth it. However, I wouldn't put the lotion and powder on together, that will just create a mess.

Its caused by the skin closing up over the end of the hair and then the hair is trying to break through. Using a fresh razor helps. After you shave for a while the skin won't close up so much so you won't have that problem.

Any anti-inflammatory lotion can calm the irritation, such as Aloe Vera. Your skin should also get used to it after a few more shaves.

If you really dont like shaving even after what the other chaps have said, you could just trim it to a pretty close fit. Saves you having to repeat it over and over again, bit quicker, less chance of cuts etc.
