View Full Version : Names in posts/profiles

I was wondering if we could have the thing turned on to where we would have our names in parenthesis by our usernames in our posts and in our profiles. I think it would be neat and it's optional, so if it gets turned on it doesn't have to stay on. This could save a line of signature space while also helping us to get to know eachother around the forums.
Is this an idea and could this be done easily?

I hate to bring back the dead, but why was this missed?
I think it's a good idea.

The only concerns I have is that they will have to be checked (so not vulgar or hateful comments etc) and that we already have custom titles on.
Though with custom titles, only a few members can have them, and this would be for everybody. Also, I don't think custom titles for moderators is such a good idea because in announcements they be all like "Fresh King" or "Super Moderator 3000" and it's sort of informal :P But I guess I'm a bit more professional than that and that's a whole different story
Thanks for checking the coffin, Bobby :P

I disagree also. For the same reason as rok.my.sox "custom titles for people who can be bothered to stay here long enough". This gives people who have achieved this, something that new people cant get.
what the?

I think it's a good idea Donnie, but I do agree with Andy aswell. After all, ones title, and ones name are not the same thing.
sorry, LMAO, DOOVDÈ! XD nice one Andy

There are plenty of members that have been here for years who don't have 2,500 posts.
Though putting your name as the first line of your sig works fine.

And for Ant, he doesn't need a sig line or name because his username is his name :P

That's what I was thinking. One name is a title such as "Puberty101 Noob" and the other is "Zach". It would save sig space, although it would be easier to get to know people because not all people put their name in their signature.
I also agree with Ant - there are LOTS of members who come here often and that have been here for 2 years who can't change their titles because they don't have 2,500 posts

Ya i am going to have to disagree with that statment seeing as how I have "bothered" to stay but don't have 2,500+ posts

Personally I like having a signature
And if people stick around long enough and bother to pay attention it dosent take long at all to learn the real names of the active members
Thats what myself and many other members have all been doing for years
I have no problem with it being an option I wont use it but i'm all for customization
but I dont want it to be used as an excuess not to have sigs, or to push for shorter sigs

No offense, but most of the new members don't even know what your name is Cody. And with your most recent name change, it's gonna be even harder to address or know who their global moderator is. And you don't have your name in your signature, either.

ya I know
if they want it they can ask
I am under no obligation to disclose my name online
and like i said zach i have no problem with it being done
all for personal customization
I just said i wont use it
