What were your thoughts on it

Waste of time, money, and precious energy these people want to save. Just more publicity for Gore. That's all it is.

The whole point was to raise awareness of global warming, not really be entertained.

I disagree, the bands performing for Australia talked to the people about it, and how to fix it
Though ironicaly the end of the concert was a huge mess, with plastic cups all over the ground

I do not see how a concert can save the earth. Anyone care to try and reason through it. "OOOH, my melodies will heal the earth. YAy for me and my concert". Pointless on so many levels.

There you have it. My pessimist and realist opinions. Good day to you all.

Perfect example. You're going for the entertainment, not for the cause.

It's to "rock out" for global warming awareness or some kind of bs like that.

wow, some people took this the wrong way. live earth was to raise awareness about global warming, as some of you said. heres a quote.

Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by the Alliance for Climate Protection, The Climate Group and other international organizations to drive individuals, corporations and governments to take action to solve global warming. Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore is the Chair of the Alliance and Partner of Live Earth.

It was a massive waste of resources, though. Nothing will be done until our corrupt government is brought down.

No it wasn’t
At the very least it was entertaining
And I bet it made allot of money to help fund the cause
You can’t make billions of people aware without at least a lil money for advertising, public speaking, etc....

And what makes you think America is the only country were talking about?...This was a global event you know...for global warming...a global problem....ya

What government would be better?
True bushes polls are low but if you hate the entire party then I should remind you that his polls are higher than the senate which is controlled by the opposition party
You’re only other choice
So thinking that you’re wasting your breath trying to change it now and deciding its better to just sit around until bush is gone and it will all magically get better isn’t a very good attitude

That's not what I'm saying. Nearly every government official is corrupt. The entire thing needs gutting. We are the worst polluter per person on the planet, so speaking mainly of the US is alright, especially since it's my country. You worry about Canada.

The problem is that in order to even you to even have a chance at holding a high federal office. Senet, House of reps, President. You have to be wiling to be a ass kissing corrupt dickhead. The key is to not let the public know about it. Which is is why democracy is flawed, or at least at the moment it is in America. Anyway I think live earth was ok but really from what i watched it didn't seem to really promote the fight of global warming that much. i mean occationaly they would have a global Warming awareness ad, but i think they could have spent a little bit more time on that hole global warming think, considering the fact that that was what the live earth concert was all about. Also watching the concert seem to remind me of the the episode of south park titled Die Hippie, Die (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Hippie,_Die) ere they have a giant Hippie JamFest in southpark.

i don't know about everywhere else but in sydney it seemed to be all about the entertainment and not much about a cause. i think this kind of thing works well for raising funds for poverty because you are gaining something from it and making a difference. i don't think any difference has been made about the awareness of global warming around the world from this event. i think most people who went along did so for the entertainment on offer and only a minority went for the real reason.
