Guest to member ratio

I just looked because I was curious. There are nearly 6 times the amount of guests on VT compared to members. What's up with that? It was like 90 members vs 525 guests.

Just wondering as to why there is such a crazy statistic.

I think it's because a lot of them are not actual people...someone more knowledgeable, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmm. It makes me wonder how many predators can be attracted to this site. (P101 is a popular area. It's prime for finding unknowing victims who give out too much info or to even befriend and ask for things like picture or a number or something.) Or maybe im parinoid.

I'm not saying that I think all 500 guests (or even members) are predators, but I have a feeling that somewhere within these numbers, there has or is at least one. IM ONTO YOU! D:< lol

I would say, keep a lookout for super generic information and inconsistent stories if your really worried. But all you have to do is just be careful with what you put out there.

Way ahead of you there, bud. We, the staff, do everything we can to keep VT a safe place for everyone. We constantly make sure that everything is just how it should be, and that all of the rules are followed. The reason why the rules may seem to be so strict is to ensure your safety here.

Well I'm glad for that. Thanks guys. But still, what's up with the ratio?

Not everybody necessarily has an account on VT. It's not that big of a deal, I mean you would expect people to stumble upon it looking for answers to their own questions, and then not making an account because they don't want to deal with making a new password etc. Therefore, there are "serial guests" (those who come on a lot to look for stuff but don't have accounts) and some who just happen to be on or something.
Or, there's a glitch in the system ;)

While true, some of the guests are google bots that search places so they show up in searches, most of the guests are teenagers like you and I that have searched a question in Google or something and have been directed towards a thread on this site. That is why there are so many guests always viewing the P101 archives, because all the old P101 threads that may come up on Google are stored there. The guests viewing the other sections besides P101, Psych Ward, and H&A are probably either members who dont bother to log in, more familiar guests, or google bots.
