http://www.newser.com/story/145426/6-year-old-suspended-for-quoting-lmfao-song.html
(Newser) – It's a line that has likely helped earn LMFAO piles of cash ... but all it got a 6-year-old Colorado boy is a three-day suspension for sexual harassment. First-grader D'Avonte Meadows apparently voiced the line "I'm sexy and I know it" to a female student while in the lunch line. And he didn't even sing it—"I only just said the song," he tells 7News. His mom is none too pleased, and explains that she sees things like "fondling ... looking up her skirt" as sexual harassment, not quoting an MTV favorite. "They're going to look at him like he’s a pervert. And it’s like, that’s not fair to him."
Sable Elementary School issued a statement saying it couldn't discuss the case; the district's code on sexual harassment refers to acts that have "negative" effects on the "learning or work of others." His mom says D'Avonte got in trouble for saying the same line to the same girl last month (that time, booty shaking was apparently involved) and the assistant principal spoke to him. But the AP notes that she questions whether her son knows anything about sexual harassment. "I'm going to definitely have to sit with him and see if he understands exactly what the song means."

I guess the school isn't up to date on the current music trend.

That's plain dumb, not like he touched her or anything, and did the little girl tell a teacher, or did someone over hear? Seems like an overreaction to me.

Seems like an overreaction on the school's part, but also the parents should keep a closer eye on the media that their 6-year-old is consuming... I can understand teenagers having this kind of privacy/music tastes, but the parents should really step up.

In response to this, personally I don't even think a song like that is bad enough to be deemed inappropriate to their children. The school overreaccted completely. And I don't think the parents or the child did anything wrong.

I was making a more general statement, which admittedly was slightly off-topic. This incident shows how pop music and culture are influencing little kids, and they don't even fully understand what it means. I know that someone I used to babysit asked her mother what a "disco-stick" was. It's up to the parent what they want their kid listening to at such a young age, and I don't know if letting them listen to that is the wisest choice.

Sexual harassment is well, "sexual" harassment. A negative affect on learning is being disruptive. This is a perfect example of double standards in American public schools. If the female student said it would be viewed as funny. But on the other hand it is also an example of music affecting youth at a younger age

I'd be surprised if little kids even know what the radio is nowadays... Yeah right... my sister tries to listen to it all of the time; and she doesn't need to hear about sex in songs and then repeat it - which is why I always break the radios.

But on the other hand it is also an example of music affecting youth at a younger age If my baby sister says something like this in public, she is sent to her room when we get home and she doesn't get treats. It is NOT funny even if you're a girl; you are not supposed to say such things at that age and it is sickening they have ever heard that song fully.
You can be appropriate or you can get in trouble. This is no different than saying "I'm going to kill you all" when your older brother plays COD all of the time.

I know more little kids that listen to the radio than people my age. It seems to be making a comeback. But seriously, they all listen to Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry etc. which all seems to have sexual stuff in it. Like, I met this two year old, and she was singing, "Oh na na, what's my name' from that Rihanna song and "Sun kissed skin so hot we'll melt your popsicle" from California Gurls and it was funny at the time but one's gotta think how inappropriate that music is to little kids. She picked these up from the radio...

I simply do not want my little sister to say such inappropriate things, when she is my age I don't care... but a 4 year old doesn't need to hear about how slutty some music artist is, and then repeat everything she says.
Music today is immoral for little children.

Seriously?! My classmates did the same things, maybe even worse in elementary. I remember being third grade or so with my classmates singing "I like Big Butts" during lunch time, along with "Apple Bottom Jeans" and "Dick in a Box". And I went to a school where parents would have had a heart attack if they knew they're kids were singing those songs.
My classmates also played house during recess, and pretended to have sex with each other.
Right.

I kind of agree with you, but I sort of don't. As an American, I have to say that even though a lot of our citizens are brainless idiots, not all of us are. Yes, a lot of us are arrogant (with a lot of us refusing to learn another language and with the mind set of "English rules. So learn it or kiss my ass." <-- I've actually heard that from the morons that have sadly been in my life.) and our media these days sucks (Seriously, Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Jersey Shore? No wonder why other countries think we're idiots. I almost cried when some chick on Nancy Grace called the Kardashians our royalty.) Not to mention the behavior that some American's have when they visit other countries. But, there are maybe a quarter or so American's who aren't all too bad.
I've watched my friends little siblings (all under the age of 11) and all of them started cursing in 4th grade or so, wearing short shorts and Abercrombie and Fitch tops at the same time, while walking around with their iPhones. It does make me sad, because not too long ago I was that age, and the closest I had to an iPhone was a Nintendo DS. But, at the same time, I feel hypocritical for being sad when at the age of 8, I was one of those little girls who went around telling others that girls had eggs and I (embarrassingly enough) played those house games I mentioned above.
And in the middle of this rant, I sort of forgot what my point was, lol. I'm pretty sure it was that not all of us American's are stupid?

I didn't wanna quote all, its long :P.
Well, yeah, i know, not all are stupid/etc, of course.
And what i meant is, this law(s), are stupid, and the ones who made them.Though, thats just my opinion. There are lot more stuff, that pretty much makes me hmm, sick?Well, i guess.
Like this http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1298082/pg1
(They got their kids back eventually), while from the people they should take children from (example, like from her: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1388499/Botox-mother-Kerry-Campbell-lied-bid-fame.html ), they don't.Ok, its a lie (probably), but don't you think thats sick?Using a kid so she can become famous, or w/e.
I mean, i understand them.America is pretty much, sick country, so you have to expect the worst, but that just proves my point.
And, anyway, pretty much every country's got reality shows, and people watch them. Why they watch them, well, i don't know, but most do.
My cousin do curse too (9-10 years old), but really, he's a kid, he maybe shouldn't curse as much as he does, but anyway, who cares?I really don't see a problem with that, or with stuff in OP.
As for the English, i can't forget the comment from some American I've read on some YT video, "Americans invented English language" or something like that, every time i remember it, it makes me laugh...
Well, my point is, sick shit happens everywhere, but America is the "leader".But saying everyone in America is sick and stupid, would be dumb generalization, and I'm not saying that, I'm just saying that mostly crazy shit happens in America.
Shortly said, i don't like the country, crazy shit that happens there, the leaders, or what they (America?) do, but thats just me.People, well, people are what they are.One of the reasons (beside the point that America has a lot of people), why the crazy shit happens there, in my opinion, is because people are "colder", so to say.Well, at least comparing to the people i know, in my country, and etc.
Again just my opinion.
And...i have no idea where I'm going with this anymore, so ill end it here. Its 7 am after all :/
Anyway, my last post on this thread :)

Anyway, my last post on this thread :)
I like you, let's be friends. :)
Lol, alright so I do agree with you that America isn't the greatest country in the world, and I know that crazy shit happens all around the world. When I lived in another country (not going to say which one because I'm paranoid at the moment) I remember my mom and her best friend getting into a fist fight because mother dearest decided to sleep with her friends husband (...and her other best friends husband too..) Eh, maybe that's not too bad, but yeah.
I know what you mean about people being colder. The people where I live are the most plastic, snobby, bottox loving people in the world, and when ever I say hello to them on the street, they usually glare at me. When I lived out of the U.S. and the east part of the U.S., you'd say hi to people and they would smile and say hi back.
That's sick with the botox, that mother needs to be put in jail. I feel bad for the other family though. I mean, taking nude pictures of your young child in the U.S. isn't exactly great here, but if it's fine where they're from, then let them be. I mean as long as they're not selling it to pedophiles or using it as their own ...uh...motivation(?) I really don't see anything wrong with it. I remember being seven and my best friends mother taking bath time pictures of us, and nothing bad happened to her because she had taken pictures of three naked 2nd graders.
I actually agree with a lot of things you said. I don't agree with a lot of things that's going on here at the moment, in fact I'm a little bit angry/disspointed. Like for example, our government borrowed money from the future (meaning the generation that can't even vote yet) I'm really mad that my generation and the ones after mine have to pay for the older generations problems, But, if the government hadn't done that, our economy would most likely be more bad then it is at the moment. I mean, I love the country I was born in, but at the same time, I'm disappointed of the country I live in too. As I've gotten older, I've started to question the things that happen around me, and there's this weird paranoid side of my brain always asks if the government is feeding us lies.
I mean, I guess we could be worse off. We're a free country, women have more rights then they did a hundred years ago, and we can dress how we want to (not saying that other countries don't have this). Plus, the other country where I use to live, I wasn't doing too well. My family was poor, I barely had enough food, bad medical care, barely any schooling, etc. So, I'm grateful for the U.S. for that. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful for all of the opportunities I have here that I maybe wouldn't have in some other countries, but there are days where I wish I could live in New Zeland or Australia or places similar to those. Then there are other days where I'm happy living here, because well, I'm not really great with changes and I've lived her for most of my life now.
I wasn't trying to scold you or anything, I was trying to say I agreed with you (which I think I failed at saying) but I wanted to point out that not all of us necessarily agree with how the U.S. does things, or what ever the he'll I pointed out earlier. (I don't really feel like reading through my other posts at the moment)
Sorry if this is kind of confusing, my brain is always confused when it comes to how I feel about the U.S. That, and my brain's kinda foggy because I've fallen victim to the flu. :/
Well, anyway. Good night :) (Or, should I say good morning? :) )

The school over-reacted big time. I doubt that kid even knew what he was saying. He was just repeating what he heard in the song.
I wonder if the same thing would have happened if he had said "you don't know you're beautiful" (from the One Direction song).
