I've gone out with friends 4 separate times and we'd each try until we we tired, then the next guy would try. The first time out on the lake, 2 of the guys got up on their 2nd or 3rd try. The othe 3 of us couldn't do it.
The next time out, 2 more guys were able to do it, but not me.
The next time out I did it on my 2nd attempt
I think its easy for most people, I'm pretty tall, so maybe that was part of it. Plus I had 5 other guys in the boat all shouting diff things to try, which really didnt help. So I think you won't have any trouble at all with an instructor cuz he knows what advice to give if you don't get up on ur first try.
I bet you'll get up on ur first or second try or the next two if he notices something and tells ya what to do diff.
Have fun, it's a blast and for me it always fun to spend a day at the lake with my friends

Sure do :)
I started when I was 7, so I've never had trouble getting up.
Make sure you keep a little bit of weight on your forward foot, you don't want all of your weight on your back foot, unless its the type of landing you're aiming for - as you're new, you won't be doing any.
If you're overweight, it's harder, if your tall, it's easier.
Are you doing it from cable or a boat?

It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it :) You may get tired pretty quickly though, consider yourself warned.
