Okay, I'm finally finishing 6th grade :yeah: , and entering Junior High. Anyways last week We were all given forms for Gym clothing sizes and prices, Which obviously means we have changing rooms, and I'm just not sure what to expect. Could anyone tell me what to expect of the changing room and how my peers may act in the changing room?

What you should expect is a room with a lot of other guys in their underwear in it. No need to be worried about anything, just go in there change and walk out.

You will get a locker, and that's where you keep your gym clothes, deodorant, cologne, and other personal crap that teenagers use.
Some schools require you to shower after PE class; others don't. Mine does, otherwise we get docked a grade.
The other kids will crack jokes while changing; it takes away the tension of getting undressed in front of other boys for the first time. The best bet is to just go along with them. And do NOT wear dorky underwear; when you get to junior high you have to show that you have moved past that.

7th grade was the first time i had to use a locker room both changing and showering but it really didn't bother me cause i'm used to nudity. there were some boys really nervous the first couple of times but soon everyone was cool with it. even if you don't have to shower, just relax and change clothes. look into your locker or something like that and try to ignore the boys around you until you become more comfortable.

I can tell you to go to Catholic school where they don't let you change into gym clothes when you're around people(that's assuming you're like me and modest haha)

There really isn't much to it. All it is is a bunch of guys in their underwear. I had gym all 3 years of middle school and all 4 years of high school. It was kind of weird at first changing in front of everybody, but you get used to it after the first couple times. Most of the time the guys will be making jokes and just having stupid fun. Just go with it and you'll be fine.
Although, a word of advice, if you wear briefs (or tighty whities... whatever you want to call them), I'd suggest making the switch to boxers or boxer briefs. All 7 years I had gym, the guys who wore briefs got made fun of. It sucks, but it's just the way it is.

You get held back a grade for not using the shower after P.E.? If you forget to shower for only one day they hold you back? If my junior high keeps you back a grade for not using the showers (asuming they have showers) My mom will be bombarding me the entire year... O_O

I don't go the catholic school, actually. Changing rooms are just an odd new concept for me.

You are probably going to have a locker room with lots of other guys who are all unsure about the situation. I recommend that whether you are required or not, just get naked and get in the showers, set the trend. You will feel better getting clean after you sweat and you will be more popular with the girls because you won't smell! I remember 6th grade when we had the chance to shower some guys just refused and they smelled.
I would agree with guys above who said to switch to boxers or boxer briefs if you wear briefs. Just about everyone in my class wore boxers and the few who didn't really stood out. And don't shower in you boxers. About the only guys at my school who got made fun of were 2 guys who did that because they were afraid to get naked. Otherwise, whether you were big or little, pubes or not, no one really made fun of anyone else.

We were require to take a shower after our physical activity class in my middle school, but I heard in the US it is pretty rare, so honestly you will prob just change real quick and leave. Don't be nervous because everyone will feel the same way as you the first day! Just dont stare at anyone or something creepy. haha

Oops, I'm sorry, I meant letter grade. So an "A" becomes a "B", a "B" becomes a "C", etc.

Don't bend over (Might get made fun of if you do.) and don't get a boner. I'm the same age as you but I'm in 8th.

Can I just. I think that other guy was meaning perhaps they might mark you down or your grade. As personal hygiene does come into fitness.
Chances are if what I just said was the case if your parents contacted the school over it I doubt they would dock you just for not showering. But it's best to shower.

Yupp, that's what I meant. Now I have no idea if they actually do mark you down a letter grade. But it's not worth the risk. Besides, I want to take a shower after running laps or playing basketball or whatever. I'm really not a big fan of stinky BO.
Mike, there's really nothing to worry about. If you act nervous, then you will stand out like a turd in a punch bowl. Just pretend that you are the only one getting undressed, and everything will be fine.

I never thought it was as big of a deal as some people think. Do you play sports? Guys in sports just seem to get used to it and not care, I think. Way more it seems than guys not into sports. At least thats how it seems to me

Congratulations on making it to junior high! As far as gym class, you are in for fun. I agree with others who say the locker room and changing is not a big thing. Everyone is a little nervous at first but like others have said, get in there and just change. You are all boys and all boys have the same parts. After a couple of days, everyone just laughs and has a great time. The only ones at my school who get made fun of are those who run to the stalls to change. My advice is don't start that because you get labeled and it is had to shake. I am glad we all had to take showers because when you see others getting naked, it makes it easier for everyone. Have fun and enjoy!

Well, expect to be highly uncomfortable the first time. It's going to be awkward for a little while. Don't wear dorky underwear though. Some guys will probably try to horse around, just to remove the tension, because 99.9999% of the guys in there are nervous too. Some will try to hide, don't be that person, it makes you look really bad, trust me, I was that person the first day, and everyone is looking for someone to make fun of, (so try not to bring attention to yourself). As time goes on, it gets so much easier. I month into it, you won't even notice anymore.
If you have to shower, be prepared for even more awkwardness, but I do it now every day, and the awkwardness fades.
There will be lockers, so you have a place to put your stuff. But no matter what anyone says, it's not that horrible. It just takes some getting used to. The goal is to be as quick as possible.
The first day, expect people to be procrastinating to some extent, because nobody wants to be the first one to strip off.
Just remember, the quicker you are (so long as you don't draw attention to yourself) the better.
Good luck.

i would recommend not staring at a guys junk. even if you're curious, I would wait a bit until everyone is more comfortable. If you get aroused, go in the bathroom stahl and make like you have to use the bathroom until it goes away. The more joking around/having fun you have the more comfortable it will make people

I guess a lot of guys have a concern about this - but just get in and get on with whatever - you change for sports and after shower and dress ready for next class.
So you might also need shower gel - and towel -
Try to get a routine of how you leave your clothes - and keep a tidy space
Make sure you have what you need - PE kit drink etc

A middle school changing room is a bunch of boys trying to change as quick as they possibly can so other boys don't see them in their underwear. I don't know if they will have you take showers though because they didn't at my school

Well, it really does depend on your school/classmates, but for sure you'll be getting a locker. It's a place to store your gym clothes, deodorant, backpack (our schools don't have main lockers), and maybe some extra clean clothing. You most likely won't be stripping naked, but rather taking your shirt off and putting your gym shirt on and then the same with the shorts/bottoms, and sometimes shoes.
Usually, well, at least at my high school, you can expect friends to basically make small talk while you change. Some have more of the "broski" attitudes and are loud, while others like me just talk about random stuff while I'm getting my shirt on, lol.
Some schools may require you to shower, mine doesn't. In fact, you're not allowed to shower unless you're in swim unit, and even then, it's optional (though I would, chlorine really isn't that good for your body/hair). Our school, you just shower in your swimsuit. If you have to strip naked, don't sweat it. Everybody's probably in the same boat of embarrassment as you, so just act cool and try not to get a boner... :P
Well, sorry for my long response, and I just realized this was bumped, but hey, even if it gets locked it's good info for the passerby.
Cheers!

Where your PE shorts under your school pants. And then all you need to do it pull the pants on and put on a PE shirt. Simple and Effective.

Honestly not a big deal. Just people in their underwear and maybe without their shirts on. You don't have to even get down to anything less than shorts.
If you are self conscious. Just wear shorts to school OR wear them under your pants, then take off your pants, then no one sees your underwear or anything.

They will obviously act like immature babies but as long as you are more mature and don't pay attention to them then you wont have any issues and maybe they will grow up and realize that penis size isnt a big deal
