US mum was charged with child endangerment over accusations she let her five-year-old daughter use a stand-up tanning booth in New Jersey, FOX station WNYW said today.

Police arrested Patricia Krentcil, 44, of Nutley, New Jersey, after they were called to her daughter Anna's elementary school April 24.

The young girl reportedly told the school nurse she was in pain from burns she suffered while "tanning with mommy".

But a deeply-tanned Krentcil told local station WCBS it was simply a big misunderstanding.

Though she admitted Anna had been in the room at the tanning salon, she denied the fair-skinned girl had entered the booth.

"There's not room ... I would never permit it ... It didn't happen," the mum said. "It's preposterous".

Krentcil said the child's sunburn was a result of playing outside on a sunny day.

Exactly. This mother... awful is the least you can say about her.

I don't believe she actually let the daughter tan, and she probably brought her b/c no one could watch her? She does look like a person that could burn easily(the daughter), so I don't see it as "worst excuse". Just my two cents.

I feel sorry for the daughter. Not only was she to go into the tanning bed with her mother, but now her mom was arrested.. :(

I saw this on the news. What bull shit. Get the fuck over it. I don't know why this has to be a problem.

Because it's a prime example of piss-poor parenting (assuming the mother is guilty.)

Maybe they were lying out in the sun tanning? It doesn't have to be the worse case scenario.

Maybe they were lying out in the sun tanning? It doesn't have to be the worse case scenario. Look at the picture of them other, and tell me that's a natural tan.

She literally looks ebony because of the tan, and she cared so much about tanning she left her daughter outside of the tanning salon for so long she got a sun burn? That is sickening, and even worse if she took her in.
