Do you feel like unions are good and keep bussiness in line or do they overstep their limits and ask for too much?

They're good IMO because without them, work would be unfair, dangerous, and overly long. We'd be no better than China in terms of work conditions without unions.

That's how I feel. I know that some people feel that unions make it difficult for businesses to, well, do business. But most of these concerns I hear are from people who are invested in some sort of business. I'm sure companies would get greedy without them.

They are good in some cases and bad in others. I rather have them, though.

I am against it in general. They protect workers, but I think that they are sort of like a monopoly :P

Well, while I do think unions are good and work to help the average worker have a say in what they do, they do overstep their limits sometimes. We ask for too much, which makes it costly to get things made here. Then we complain because our factories go to Mexico or we import from China.

i think that they used to be necessary but now they are less necessary and can cause more problems than they solve

Exactly the situation in SA. The unions here are too powerful, causing unemployment, since having human labour has become too costly and difficult to handle.
Businesses are therefore reluctant to hire new labour. It has become cheaper and easier for industries to use capital (robotics/machines etc.) Or to outsource to china instead. About 1 in 3 people are unemployed here.

Unions are the only things that prevent the rotten capitalist system from chewing the workders and their rights. We should have them.
