And here's the kicker: I'm only 14. I do it to substitute for cutting. Any other people around my age who drink? Or anyone who's willing to try and say something deep enough that might make me sober up?

Abusing alcohol isn't a good thing to do. It can really mess your life up and can create poor choices in the future. I have seen this first hand, and especially at your age you have a lot to still do and so much to explore. There shouldn't be any reason to be drinking. I know these are only words and but think about it really hard. If you keep going on down this path where will you end up in a few years?

Think about what you want to do with the rest of your life as alcohol abuse is not something to be taken lightly. Go talk to your school's counselor and see what they can do for you as they can provide the help that you need.

Mate there both wrong. I'm just curious of why you drink? If it's something tragic that has happened in your life then maybe you should go seek proffesional help. Trust me, drinking will have a BAD affect on your life, you could become an Addict to a person who has heart problems.

I use it as a substitute for cutting. Trust me, I don't think it's ok, and I'm trying to stop. I'm not addicted though, which makes stopping easier.

Dude, you are addicted. I was addicted and you keep telling yourself your not. I always said stuff like"I'm not addicted""I can stop if I want to""I don't drink often/enough to be addicted" It's a serious thing alcohol can control your life. I can't say anything that will make you quit, that designation is up to you. All i can say is if your going to stop, stop now it will be easier in the long run.

I think he's right man. I get drinking cause I used to finish 3 bottles of alcohol with a friend when we were really depressed with our s*** lives, but honestly I'm happy I got out of it. I used to feel like people would care more for me and give me more attention when they saw me like that, but then I realized that people are more openly supportive of me when I'm sober. Plus it can really mess things up man. I think you should channel your negative emotions into something more productive like music or something.
Good luck bro! :)

Drinking is worse than cutting. Drinking damages your liver, brain, stomach, muscles... I could go on and on about how bad booze is. Cutting? It only hurts your skin. And you don't get hungover and it's not illegal.
I know I'm not much of a help, but I honestly think that if you're going to do something as a substitute for cutting, drinking is definitely not the thing to do.

Yeah.. don't drink at a young age. It does damage your growing brain and will affect you in exams.

It's more harmful to drink. But, it's scientifically proven that 1 glass of wine a day, is healthy. But most all teens at my school drink. They've drinker and smoked since they were 13. I drink to enjoy, not to get drunk. I like wine cause of the taste, and with dinner. I like vodka soaked olives and beer with food.

You should think of getting therapy to help with how you feel. Maybe you should look into a therapist getting you depression medication, depression is an actual illness. Positive thinking cannot change depression, it takes actual medicine.

Edit:

You can't expect to suddenly stop drinking, slowly wean yourself off of it. So if you have 10 shots of vodka a day, go down to 9 shots of vodka in 2 days, then 8 shots in 2 days, then 6 shots in 2 days, and so on. But excessive alcohol can lead to liver failure, when the alcohol runs through your bloodstream it goes to your brain, kidneys, liver, stomach, and muscle. Which effects them a lot, over time. Also, alcohol has caused more deaths in teens then all illicit drugs combined! Alcohol also has a negative effect if your trying to look good, fit and healthy.

My aunt (Rest her soul) started drinking at fourteen. She did it to cover up her horrible home life. She wasn't happy, and drinking helped numb it all.

She passed away a few days after my last birthday. Her drinking to numb that problems as a young teenager passed on into drinking to keep her happy as an adult. It destroyed her insides, and initially liquidated the organs that alcohol does effect. She went into a coma one week before she passed away, and died without telling any of us goodbye.

She didn't think that a few drinks here and there at fourteen would turn into full blown alcoholism in later years. To her, it was just an easy band-aid for the problems that were hurting her. She died young, too young.

Okay, so, I don't drink, but I'm a cutter. I'm often very unhappy about my life and when I'm down, I often think, it would be easier to just smoke some weed or drink some beer or stone myself or something to forget about the pain. But the thing is, if I'm just cutting, I still have some hope for myself. Maybe it's just a faze that I'll grow out of. And if I would start taking drugs or drinking ... well, maybe I'd relize, that it's stupid, but I wouldn't be able to stop, because I'd be physically and psychically addicted. So, to me, drinking is really the last faze of despare and I wouldn't like to reach this point at fourteen. So that's my opinion. :)

I am a drinker, not real heavy like, but still. I think that it is crazy to go to the extreme ends of the scale, on one end of the scale NEVER EVER DRINK!!!!!! On the other end I AM GOING TO GET HAMMERED EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!! Take the meddle ground, going to extremes does not usually work. And also you should get some help with regards to your cutting.

ok, i have been drinking since i was about yhur age. im what yhu call a functioning alcoholic. im not saying this is a good thing, because it really isnt. drinking can break up a family relstionship, even friendship. drinking nor cutting is something to encourage. yhu can easily abuse it. abuse it to the point that yhu get reputations, end up in jail, DUI, ruining yhur life. hell, i used to cut! but i quit, for my safety. please consider what following and listening to the advice i have given yhu!!!

let me know!! rep back? [; !!! feel free to VM or PM me for further advice or help with any problems!!

Alcohol is the worst thing that you can do. Like especially at your age. Just please don't do it!!!! From my experience with my dad, it ended up where alcohol took his life, and he doesn't even know how to raise a child the right way! And if you want a family in the future, you can't drink! Especially when pregnant, because then can affect the baby.

Yeah, so go smoke some crack and shoot up some heroin because alcohol is going to kill you.

No but seriously - stop drinking. Drinking is going to do more harm to your body than cutting is. However neither of them should be substituted with the other. Talk to someone who can help you off of it.

Whatever you do don't do both at once. Alcohol works as a blood thinner and makes it alot harder for your blood to clot.

And this is what I was talking about, Taking things to extremes. My mom and dad drink and they did a okay job raising me. Trust me man, going to extremes will do no good.

Alcohol doesn't result in testicular shrinkage, you'd hear about it more often. Excessive alcoholism causes Infertility, but that's the least of your worries because your liver would be suffering a bad dose of Cirrhosis.
