Ok, I have decided on modding my Desktop to look more modern. but I was wondering what the Windows 8 interface is called, I've been doing extensive research to redo my interface to have the same concept as the windows 8 interface. I'm also re building the Gui graphics sets from scratch to look more modern yet have that ubuntu look.

Also please give me some suggestions or tips on modding the interface, i'm still kinda new to OS modding and graphic design.

Heres a live snapshot of my Desktop modding progress.

- Make a metro based theme for Gnome and Unity (9% complete)
- Set Metro display to open on startup (Complete)
- Set desktop up to look more like windows 8's start screen (6% complete)
- Modify Ubuntu's Bootup screen (Ready to test)
- Modify Ubuntu's login screen (Complete)
- Tweak Unity settings (Complete)
- Swap Ubuntu system sounds (Searching for old backup of Windows XP sounds as temporary replacement)

This is the windows XP song I found on one of my old Online storage accounts, the song comes with XP and is hidden in the system files. :)

but I was wondering what the Windows 8 interface is called,

Microsoft calls it 'Metro' or a 'Metro-styled' interface. Same interface that's on the 360 & Windows Phone.

Looks pretty good so far man. Keep it up.
I'm curious to see how it looks when you're finished.

I would never be able to work with something like that, tbh. It's just too...flashy and in-the-way. If I had the time and will, I would just be running a basic X server with pretty much no useless and in-the-way things :P
But that's just me.

It looks pretty good, perhaps if you manage to make an especially good configuration, the Ubuntu community would be happy to have it.

Only reason I decided to do this was because I wanted a more functional Desktop. as well as make it look like a combination of both Ubuntu and Windows.

But Feedback and comments are appreciated. :D
