Okay, so yesterday I had my mile test and when I started my 5th lap I started to give my legs a bit of a break and walk most of that lap because my legs were starting to wear down, and when I was 1/4th of the way done with my final lap I ran the rest and after my legs felt like they were over-worked, I'm not usually active lately since I haven't had a bike to ride in over 2 years, I am usally only active during Gym which is on wednesdays and thursdays, but today my legs have been sore and my mom says its because I'm not exersizing enough, is this true? or was it just because I over-worked my legs? It also hurts to walk at times.

It's most likely Lactic acid build up it can occour when you do intense excersize that you're not used to because your body is doing more work than the oxygen that you are breathing in can be used to help supply energy to your muscles. It will go away but you will have to wait it out, maybe try having a hot bath to losen your muscles? Also did you cool down after you did the running? Make sure you stretch after as well as before. Sleep and rest is going to be the best thing for it though.

no my gym teacher didn't give us time for stretching, and we were given partners that we had to keep track of their time for.

Okay... well that doesn't mean it isn't Lactic acid build up. Maybe talk to your teacher about it because it's very important to stretch both before and after excercize. You could have cooled down when getting changed or just stayed outside for a few minutes to stretch, it doesn't take that much effort.

Well, it's best to stretch before activities like this. Even stretching now will help alleviate some of the soreness.

well im hockey trainer so i can help. yes its a little bit of lactic acid, but for the most part its just ur muscles and joints. they arent use to that kind of abuse lol. that goes for just about any physical activity. like if ur body isnt used to a certain activity, those muscles will be sore for a few days up til about a week. u r fine
