Well I have only had one embarrassing one before. It was last year around November. The reason it was embarrassing was because all my brothers were in the room. All three of them got to see me nude. Not my favorite moment

Why are you in the girls only forum? :/
Read the rules. Don't post here again.
*sigh.... Boys*
Hmm, as far as embarrassing physicals go, none of mine have been that bad, except at the gyno... I was really horny the day I went and nearly orgasmed as he was examining me :0 and dad was in the room... (mom wasn't there to take me)
But ahh! I freaked out after that... And the doctor was totally professional, and my dad didn't look or anything - he was just there for moral support :P (we talked about it and he asked me if I was okay with it)
But yeah... Apart from that... I had to have a catheter put in me when I was in the hospital for surgey and it was beyond awkward :c

ha i know what you mean. I always ask for another gown and I used it as a robe so nobody can see my behind. What kind of surgery did you have.

Yeah, when I was hit by a car I was just bruised up, but my stupid male doctor did all the tests anyway. He made me where one of those hospital gowns that does nothing and kept 'inspecting' the bruise right below my bellybutton. Creep. .__.

I had a really bad infection and had to have a small procedure so they could get rid of it... :P it was in my side...
And ahh... The catheter hurts so much when it goes in...
And the nurse that put it in me was a pretty good looking guy. He walked in and i was like  I almost died right then out of embarrassment, because I saw a tube and I was like... Oh this is an IV... And I gave him my arm and he was like... Nope, sorry honey this goes elsewhere :whoops:
So I was like :what: And as he explained, I turned really red  and started to freak out... He probably noticed that it made me a bit wet, too... Which made it 10x as bad :(

Why would you EVER have your dad or male relatives go in there with you? Completely stupid. I wouldn't even want any relatives in there with me. Also, why would you want a male doctor? There's something wrong with that. I would only do it if there was a woman doctor and there was no one else in there. Of course, I'm going to try to hold off on it as long as possible, even though I'm 17 and sexually active.

At 16, you have to have a parent in the room at the Gyn... As for other male relatives besides my dad (who's a doctor) NEVER. But I don't have any brothers, so I dont need to worry about that.
Also, you should probably go if you're sexually active already.

I guess I'm just a really private person. I would absolutely DIE if anyone were in there with me besides the doctor...
And I'm afraid to go. :(

i had my father in the room because my doctors office has a policy that anybody under the age of 16 must have a parent of gaurdain in the room during the exam. My mom couldn't go because she was at work so my father had to take me. I will never have my father go at all but i had no choice.

:(I don't think he was being a creep being hit by a car can be bad sounds like he just wanted to be positive you were OK. Remember doctors see people undressed a lot and it becomes not a big deal to them.

Why is it moms want us to go the gyn? My vagina was checked during my last regular doctor visit, and I am not sexually active. When I turn 16 she wants to take me to her gyn  I can deal with having it done by my regular doctor but gyns make it into a big deal. If you do not have any issues it like so unnecessary.

my periods are very heavy right now and my mom wants to me to go on birth control to regulate my periods. She says that its best of me to just get my first gyno exam so I am used to it when I am older.

I've had exactly the same situation hahaha, but I dont mind that much. It's my dad and he's a doctor... Obviously, he looks out for me, and when it did happen, we talked before it and he just told me to tell him to look away if I was ever uncomfortable.

Not at all haha! :) I try to avoid it as much as possible, but when it does have to happen, it's not a huge deal. I trust him and my mom, both. :)

I had mine in for about a week... And I couldn't really move much after the surgery... So I wasn't able to really walk around... At the same time that was almost worse because they had a lot of stuff hooked up all over me to monitor me... So I really couldn't have a shirt or anything on... :o which was really awkward... My friends that visited me could kinda tell I wasn't wearing anything... At least I had my parents and Gabe (the boyfriend) to keep me company. - though I didn't want him to see me like that... :P

Wow i was also hook up to monitor the only thing that i was allowed to wear was the hospital gown. They didnt let you wear a gown? They made me walk after the surgery because they didn't want me to get any blood clots. I had some friends come see me i to didn't really want my friends to see me like that.

True but you are in bed its not like they will be able to see your backside while you are in bed unless you get out and walk around. I just felt awkward having my friend see me in pain and having a bag of my pee hanging on my bedside. I was so :whoops:

Well, the gown they gave me opened in the front, from the side, so they could check the area where they had to do surgery, and all the monitoring stuff was attached to me through that gap... and of course there was the catheter and the bag
So... totally embarassing.... especially when I could tell some of my friends were curios and were trying to catch a peek through the gown of what the area they had to do surgery on looked like :whoops:

Haven't had any bad physicals, but definitely know what people are talking about with the catheter thing. I have heart problems and had to go to the hospital for a cardiac cath. After they put a catheter in, the first time i didnt care(even though two nurses where down there putting it in!) cause i was so looped up on drugs, the second time was super awkward cause i was alert! I have also had a doctor come in and lift the bottom part of my gown to compare the swelling in my legs....and i had no underwear on cause of the catheter. Super awkward!

I am going in for open heart surgery this summer so hopefully i dont have it that week that im in :/ but i will have to have another catheter(hurts when they put it in and take it out! Ughh hopefully they give me some good drugs before!) but i hope i dont have to have it in for long....
Not to mention since its heart surgery im going to have a gown that opens in the front and there will be tubes coming out every which way so it wont be able to be closed :(

The cardiac cath goes through an artery in your leg in your groin area. It then gets threaded up to your heart to take pictures.
I also had a catheter in my bladder, one when i was just waking up after my cath(so i was still out of it) and one when i was fully awake.
For my surgery HOPEFULLY they put it in when im asleep, but they will have to take it out when im awake :(

I think you'd have to be asleep for something like that, and that's probably why they put the other catheter in along with the cardiac cath
But still, that sounds extremely painful/scary/embarrassing.
Thats the one thing i DONT want to happen to me, i dont think i could handle having my period in the hospital!
As for having periods during your hospital stay, its not bad as long as you know to expect to have to use a tampon (pads are out of the question, since you really can't wear anything with a catheter)
If you haven't used them before, it may be a little awkward or weird, but other than that, you should be fine. However, having them changed is really awkward :(

I really haven't felt embarrassed during a physical exam. Chances are the doctor has seen so many vaginas and breasts that he's next to completely desensitized by time he has to look at mine. Its just their job and I just let them do it and get on with my life.

The cardiac cath i was put asleep for(incase they had to do surgery during it), but i was awake for both of my urinary catheters. For me it hurt when they where put in and taken out! not bad, just like a sharp pain right away then it stopped. They put the urinary catheter in after i had already woken up because for some reason i could not pee on my own!(they wanted me to use a bed pan but i couldnt go :whoops: )
How can you change a tampon after surgery? i wont really be able to get up for the 1st day(i will be in the ICU) Do they change them for you  i really dont want them to do that!! Lets just hope i either dont get it while im there, or i get it after i am up and walking so i can change it on my own!

my friend has back surgery and she couldn't get up she had her period and they had to put a diaper on her. She was so embarrased. Just remember if they have to put the tampon in you don't feel embarrased or uncomfortable the nurses are there to help you.

thats great that you volunteer at the hospital. what do you do there?
I volunteer in the playroom and also do bed sides when the playroom isnt busy. Bedsides are when you go to the patients room and hang out with them, most times its a baby whose all alone and needs rocking or a toddler who need someone to play with them when the parents are gone or need a break :)

I want to go into something called child life. Basically i would be working in the hospital with children, child life specialists do a lot of play therapy and help children get used to and get through the hospital and treatments. :)

thats great. I wished there was someting like that when I was in the hospital for surgery a few weeks ago. I was so scared and afraid. It was my first time being admitted and I didn't know what was going on. I didn't understand some of the test and procedure they were doing to me. If i had someone to talk to I think my visit would have been much better

Yeah, to bad all hospitals don't have Child life specialists! Most children's hospitals do now though. But a lot of hospitals that arent specific childrens hospitals dont :/

yeah where i had my surgery it was a regular hospital that didn't have a pedatirc ward but i was put with people with my own age though. My friend had her scolios surgery done in a children hospital and she had a life specialist.

Thats the one thing i DONT want to happen to me, i dont think i could handle having my period in the hospital!
I am going in for open heart surgery this summer so hopefully i dont have it that week that im in :/ but i will have to have another catheter(hurts when they put it in and take it out! Ughh hopefully they give me some good drugs before!) but i hope i dont have to have it in for long....
Not to mention since its heart surgery im going to have a gown that opens in the front and there will be tubes coming out every which way so it wont be able to be closed :(
do you have a date for you surgery?

Nice to see an interesting dialog on here.So sad to hear about people having to be in the hospital especially children an teens. Makes me feel thankful I am healthy. My most embarrassing doctor events were nothing in comparison.
I would like to have a job helping people but I an not a hospital type person.Hope everyone is better so to enjoy the summer.

I had my dad come in with me cuz mom was sick with the flu....the doctor and nurse were both there but dad had to take a business call so he left me there with the doctor while the nurse came in and out. The doctor checked EVERYTHING! Kinda left me tingly after he spread me and looked inside with a light. He put his finger in just a bit and rotated it around and I know he saw me gettin kinda wet. I know my lips were gettin bigger but he didnt say anything...I felt like I was gonna be close to having a big one if he kept it up. When he did my breast exam, it made my nipples hard and kinda made me short of breath.

Thank you. I hope you have a good summer, too! :)
And it's okay. I mean, sometimes life likes to shake things up a bit. I'm just happy that I'm alive and well...
The kids who get cancer or some other terminal illness.... :( I feel for them....

I only had to strip down to the bare essential one time and it was in front of a female doctor .
That wasn't to bad or uncomfortable for me.
