Im not sure if this goes here, or where it goes for that matter but if you need to move it...i will thank you in advance!
But i DO NOT understand why people are afraid of roller coasters! I cannot figure out for the death of me why people are so scared of going on them! They are built under sooooo many safety regulations that it's so irrational to think you will die on one! I mean you are more likely to die in a car than a coaster because you ride in a car daily and there are so many human/ uncalculable factors that rides eliminate!
So please tell me why people are so afraid of roller coasters
Thanks

I'm sorta scared of them mainly because of heights (I have a fear of heights). also, that feeling when the coaster goes down a hill...I don't like it. Last time I rode one was in 6th grade, and I was surprised at myself that I did it. but I had my eyes closed the whole time.
on a side note, even though I'm scared of heights I still went on that ride that went upside down (Kennywood) and I remember at this waterpark I still went down this almost 90 degree slide :P

I'm scared of them because even though I know they're safe to me they don't feel safe.

Oh, that makes sense i guess! You know it is safe, but your instinct is to not trust it...?

I used to be scared of the huge and really fast roller coaster, but I would ride the medium roller coasters I guess you would say. What scared me is how fast it went, but now I havent been to the theme park in so long and now that Im older, Im thinking about getting on the really fast roller coasters. Sometimes I watch those shows on tv about the roller coasters around the world, and it get me so hyped up about going to the theme park again, lol.

I've been asked to go to thorpe park twice, one time it was even free, and I still am not going.
I'm not sure what freaks me out about them, I love heights, I can rock climb and be on top of mountains and stuff no problem. I also have a fear of planes and a little of boats so I think it's something about needing the safety of being on the ground and controlling your own movement instead of having no way out.
Then again I like some roller coasters like The Vampire at Chesington which goes above the whole park. I'm just arguing against myself here, so i'll go with i'm not sure although I'm scared of them because even though I know they're safe to me they don't feel safe.seems pretty true to me as well.

I fucking love them. I used to be absolutely terrified, however. When I was young, I never would go on a single one. I was always afraid I was too small to ride one without falling out of the seats. Now, though, I ride them as much as I can.

I used to be terrified of them! Just because I hate heights and I never felt safe, I still dont to a degree but I enjoy the adrenaline rush. Myy sister refuses to even go to theme parks, she says that its the screaming that puts her off...which in my opinion is fair enough, thats enough to make anyone scared hearing old men shriek because of the speed!

I was scared of coasters up until last year! you really can question why people are scared of them though. It is a psychological thing... a phobia so be it. You don't need a reason to be scared of something, but people certainly make up reasons to.
The main reason I was scared of coasters was heights... going upside down didn't help either haha. After going on a few at my local Six Flags I can't get enough!!
However, they are not something that shouldn't be feared! I have witnessed a roller coaster collision (one train was stuck in the station and the brakes were not working so the other coaster flew into the station and slammed into the other one) as well as many of them getting stuck... for hours.

I hate them, I'm honestly scared of the loops and the fast turns, even if there are no loops, say like a wooden one, I'm scared of the speed and falling out and stuff. Lol >. >
