Ive noticed lately, I fall into these slumps where I can't feel good about anything. All I feel is regret and I for some reason miss my childhood. A lot. These "slumps" make me feel a sense of hopelessness. Like somehow I've messed something up and there is no going back. They also tend to make me sleep more than I should. I can't really think of a cause for this, I just feel it (right now as a matter of fact.) it's not something that is too common for me but it happens once in a while. What does this sound like to you? Depression? Hormones? How can I get out of these slumps?

It could be a combination of both. Only way to tell really would be to get a professional view. You could also try a 'depression test' online, though those aren't really accurate, though it could give you a better idea of if you are 'depressed' or not.

As for getting out of them, it depends on if it's depression or not. If it is, pills or therapy or talking (this might be good either way actually) or something might be good, and if it's hormones (or even depression?) you can try thinking of happier things? I dunno. Hopefully if it's hormones it'll pass pretty quickly.

Good luck. <3

I'll talk to my consoler tomorrow. I know that these mood swings are at least abnormal in nature. They come out of nowhere. And I know that some of my family has battled with this and currently take medicine for it.

If you have direct family suffering with depression then yes you are probably a lot more likely to suffer.

The things you've described could be depression I experience similar sometimes. Although they could just be normal, a lot of my friends have depressive phases doesnt mean they have depression. The best thing you can do if you are genuinely worried you might have depression is talk to someone, and go and see your doctor.

You appear to be in quite a fortunate position in that you have family with similar problems so if it is anything then your parents might be more understanding than some.

I live with my grandparent unfortunately. My dads parents and there is no depression on that side of the family. But I think I might be able to schedule a visit to the doc if I word it right.
