Has anyone had this?!?!? I'm having this done this week, and I didnt know if anyone has had it done. What do they do, how fast does it heal, hows the pain? Will it be healed in about a month?

If you have a faint stomach or do not like blood then I would not suggest you do this, nor if you are really scared about it - but if your not, I have seen many of these clips on youtube which can show you some procedures that you are going. However the Doc's may do their own thing. As for pain, they will use anaesthetic so you will not feel the procedure, as for afterwards it depends. It may heal in a month - however everyone heals at a different rate so it is hard to say. Be sure to ask how to avoid infection after the procedure.
Dimitri may know some more specific details :)

I just had this about 2 weeks ago. It is a simple procedure where they cut open the toe and pull out the toe nail, and destroy the nail bed, so it won't happen again. They numb you, so you don't feel anything, and it takes about 2 weeks to completely heal. It is not painful whatsoever, and the pain was less after the surgery than before when I had pain just to walk. Just put peroxide to make sure it doesn't get infected. The only pain you feel are the needle that they numb you with, and that's not even that bad. Just don't worry about it too much.

Ok, thanks for the feedback. Its just that Im going to the beach in about a month, and I was wondering how fast it healed, or healed enough to go to the beach.

In my case, it was completely healed in 2 weeks, so a month should probably be fine.

Sorry I am getting to this so late, things have been slightly hectic around here...
Healing:
It all depends on the instruments used, surgeon (honestly, I am just basically telling you I cannot give an answer because they're so many different variables.
Everything else, I think Josiah covered it all very well.

I asked them about it, and they said it probably would be. They said that the beach would be good for it anyways since its salt water.

I have had the surgery on both my big toes twice the first time I watched the second time since I knew what was going on I didn't bother. if you dont like the site of blood don't watch. I think the stitches came out in 7 or 10 days he gave me codine for pain so I never felt anything. if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Its not as bad as I thought it would be. I looked at it for the first time, and I thought it would be something else, but It didnt look that bad.
