The only thing I have to say is dont give I to peer pressure. Weed isn't the worst thing that you could smoke, but if you don't feel comfortable doing it than don't do it. Trust your gut, and also if your parents say not to do it, don't do it just to piss them off. Do you want to do it or not? That's your choice and your choice alone. Don't let anyone pressure you into doing it or not doing it.

What would it accomplish? They're already your friends, so what do you have to gain? Though personally, I've seen better examples of being friends. Good friends wouldn't try to make you do something like that. Your parents are right to be against it - just look at people who do smoke it.
If you want to do it just because your friends told you to, then your willpower is weak.
Let's play a game of pros and cons.
PRO. Your "friends" might like you more.
CON. Extreme paranoia.
CON. Dizziness and confusion.
CON. Poor short term memory.
CON. Kills brain cells.

Welling knowing I cannot promote drug use. I'd say do the research. Determine whether it has risks. Then determine whether you wanna take the risks it can have on you. But one thing for sure, don't do it because you feel pressured.

Do not smoke tea it's ridiculously retarded. I beg you.
If you want to smoke marijuana, it's completely up to you. Although it is illegal, it has no harmful effects. I personally started because I learned it would help my depression and chronic pain.
The cons: It's expensive, you always need to be alert for police, and many girls will not date a smoker due to ignorance.

Don't do something you may regret doing in the future. I it's something you wanna do, fine, whatever...but if you are least a little hesitant, don't. That's just my advice.

I was just caught up in a situation the other day, at a school group project when some guys pulled out shit and started smoking it. I really can't stand weed, it smells bad and would definitely have a negative effect on you.
I was pressured to join in as was everyone else but I have absolutely no regret being the only one who was able to stand true to themselves. Do you really wanna give up your body so your friends will think you're cool for just a moment?
I would never discriminate or be prejudiced against smokers or any substance abusers but heck, I'd never do that to myself. If your conscience tells you that you shouldn't be doing it, don't. If your friends hate you for it you need to let them go. I know my friends are friends when will leave the room to smoke and we're cool with it both ways. If they push me to my limits chances are I never talk to them again.

No source of information is going to be truly unbiased. Sites that want to legalize it will only show the good side (and there certainly is one), but sites like Above The Influence will only show the negatives (which there also are). My opinion? I don't think it's something that should be done every day, constantly. I also don't think it's big deal to smoke every once in a while if you're hanging out with friends or something. I've only smoked once, and it was fun.

You only live once so if you wanna smoke then go for it, but if peer pressure is your only reasoning for smoking then I wouldnt advise it.
However if you do decide to smoke, here are tips for your first time.
1. Make sure your somewhere familiar even if its a friends, somewhere your comfortable.
2. Plan ahead, dont have conflicting plans, dont wanna go to church high do you?
3. Make sure you know the people your with, nothing makes a high weird like when some thug shows up and messes with you.
4. Do it at your own pace, if they're passing around 3 blunts and you already feel good then dont smoke anymore if you dont want.
5. Stay calm, while I almost never got paranoid it could happen if you work yourself up, remember no one has ever died smoking weed or have had health complications that were severe.
6. And most important, keep some cheetos on hand cause your gonna be hungry, some water does wonders for cotton mouth and coughing.

Really it's your own choice. Don't give in to peer pressure because you might regret it later. Make a logical decision and think about what sort of consequences are involved. The worst thing to do is to just rush into something when you don't think about it properly.

My parents are exactly like that! I do it sometimes and I don't really think it's bad. I mean, most of the reasons people think it's bad is cause it's illegal. Based on some research, weed actually overcharges your brain, but unlike getting drunk, smoking weed doesn't give you a hangover the next morning. It's around 20x worse on your lungs than smoking though, so that's a huge con. Plus you'll get into huge trouble if you get caught.
I think it's worth a try, but should be avoided if possible.

I have to disagree here. Go with something a little less junky and a little harder to chew. Like apples. Maybe you don't like them as much as cheetos, but I reckon they'll fill you up better ;)

As a personal weed smoker, I read some of these replies and just laughed my ass off. I'm really not bragging, but I smoke weed every day, almost all day. Until I got caught, now I'm on probation. Weed isn't that bad of a drug, but you could easily get bored with it and want to try harder drugs. Personally, I suggest you don't. I'm a person to get addicted to things pretty easily, I don't know if you are. There's tons of different perspectives you should take in consideration in this topic, but there's only one that truly matters... yours. I feel smoking weed helps with depression, but it can also lead to depression, and I've been doing kind of bad lately since I've had to quit. So my advice to you - smoke weed if you enjoy it, don't if you think you'll become addicted.

That kind of made me laugh to... I've never and never will smoke cigarettes, or anything but marijuana, yet I hack up lung-resin pretty much every morning... It does damage your lungs, a good deal too, but you can prevent it from getting too bad by running\jogging and trying to stay in shape. Exercise for your lungs is probably the most important thing when it comes to smoking weed - or smoking anything in general.

Exercise for your lungs is probably the most important thing when it comes to smoking weed - or smoking anything in general. So you spit out the resin, right? Then you agree with me that marijuana cleans out your lungs, as it is a bronchial dilator. Cigarette smoke keeps that resin in there, and it never comes out. That is how your lungs get damaged.
I know what I am talking about, I have studied the health effects of marijuana since I was 12.

Are you sure that there are no studies done? Because I found some; and these are only just a few articles that I came across.
"Another argument against the use of medical marijuana asserts that marijuana increases the risk of developing certain types of cancer such as lung and testicular cancer. The National Institute on Drug Abuse states that marijuana smoke can cause cancer of the respiratory tract because of the irritants and carcinogens it contains. They stated that marijuana smoke contains 50 to 70 percent more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke. In addition, they stated that one of the active ingredients in marijuana, tetrahydrocannabinol, was significantly associated with respiratory infection and tumor growth. In addition, a study by Dr. Stephen Schwatz and associates at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center found that smoking marijuana increased the chances of developing testicular cancer by about 70 percent. One of the reasons why marijuana may cause cancer is because it is significantly linked to DNA damage, which may initiate tumor growth, according to Dr. Rajinder Singh and associates at the Cancer Biomarkers and Prevention Group in Sweden." -- Livestrong.com
"Smoking marijuana regularly (a joint a day) can damage the cells in the bronchial passages which protect the body against inhaled microorganisms and decrease the ability of the immune cells in the lungs to fight off fungi, bacteria, and tumor cells. For patients with already weakened immune systems, this means an increase in the possibility of dangerous pulmonary infections, including pneumonia, which often proves fatal in AIDS patients. Studies further suggest that marijuana is a general "immunosuppressant" whose degenerative influence extends beyond the respiratory system. Regular smoking has been shown to materially affect the overall ability of the smoker's body to defend itself against infection by weakening various natural immune mechanisms, including macrophages (a.k.a. "killer cells") and the all-important T-cells. Obviously, this suggests the conclusion, which is well-supported by scientific studies, that the use of marijuana as a medical therapy can and does have a very serious negative effect on patients with pre-existing immune deficits resulting from AIDS, organ transplantation, or cancer chemotherapy, the very conditions for which marijuana has most often been touted and suggested as a treatment." -- Indiana.edu
"Smoked marijuana damages the brain, heart, lungs, and immune system. It impairs learning and interferes with memory, perception, and judgment. Smoked marijuana contains cancer-causing compounds and has been implicated in a high percentage of automobile crashes and workplace accidents." -- John Walters - Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy
"3-4 Cannabis cigarettes a day are associated with the same evidence of acute and chronic bronchitis and the same degree of damage to the bronchial mucosa as 20 or more tobacco cigarettes a day. Cannabis smoking is likely to weaken the immune system. Infections of the lung are due to a combination of smoking-related damage to the cells lining the bronchial passage and impairment of the principal immune cells in the small air sacs caused by cannabis." -- British Lung Foundation
But, really, it's all up to you! (: I honestly have nothing against smoking or smokers (I just personally don't do it), I'm just trying to prove my point that there are many studies done. Don't do it if you don't feel comfortable with doing it. Only do it if you are comfortable with it and ready to take full responsibility if you were to get caught. It is your choice and your choice only, do what you want; it's your life!

So first off, not one here is allowed to tell you it's a good idea. You just have to do some research and make the best decision from that.
What would it accomplish? They're already your friends, so what do you have to gain? Though personally, I've seen better examples of being friends. Good friends wouldn't try to make you do something like that. Your parents are right to be against it - just look at people who do smoke it.

PRO. Your "friends" might like you more.
CON. Extreme paranoia.
CON. Dizziness and confusion.
CON. Poor short term memory.
CON. Kills brain cells.
Secondly, I get what you're trying to say here, but please have some fact to back up your arguments. Paranoia effects a small group of marijuana smokers, however the vast majority experience no issues.
As for being "dizzy and confused", I'd say that applies more to alcohol. Under the influence of marijuana, dizziness is uncommon, and the closest to confusion you get is a bit dopey.
While I may agree with you on the short term memory, there is no proof of this effect.
Marijuana does NOT kill brain cells. This is constantly referred to, but the story is actually quite sick. Monkeys had masks attached to them and were given a feed of marijuana smoke for 20 hours constantly. When exposed to such smoke inhalation of any kind, you would experience the loss of brain cells.
Weed isn't as bad as it's made out to be, but as I've said a thousand times before, most people lose all motivation after smoking weed, and that is usually the biggest downside
