So its been while since i was on VT and i have been researching pc parts cause i want a mid range gaming rig.Alot of my older posts were nooby but now i am back as a average pc guy :).Anyway if any of the tech heads here wouldnt mind checking out my planned rig and telling me any way i can improve on my budget. So here are the planned specs

400$ Budget for the 7850 and mobo
Then the rest is either from my current rig
And the case i have coming soon aswell as the RAM.

Thermaltake Black Commander MS-I with
500w PSU
CPU I3 3.1 Ghz 2100
2x 4 Gigs of Corsair DDR3 ram 1333Mhz 240 pin
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Mobo
HIS Radeon HD 7850 2GB Core oc to 900Mhz-1Ghz
Older West Digital 1TB 5400 RPM read 70 mb write 61 on average
Standard DVD Multi recorder
TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless PCIe Adapter

So far i dont mind it i think the next bottleneck is cpu and psu.Could be wrong.
Later in the year i will go for a I5 2400-2500K or a I7 2600-2600K
I wanted to also get a Antec High Current Gamer 720w psu Incase i want to crossfire but the mobo only does 4x times crossfire mode
Imy mobo is fine except for been a Mini but meh.I will most likely get a SSD with any extra money and then 2 Westeran Digital black cavier 1TB.Well if u have managed to read this with my Sh*t spelling and and mistakes thanks alot.So anything i can improve on what i have planned.I will most likely just be Gaming on Skyrim and BF3 with some recording with fraps. Please leave any feedback :)

Your bottleneck would definitely not be your CPU or PSU.
I'd definitely look into a solid state drive within the range of 90-120GB to store your OS and most frequently used apps.

Also, remember Ivy Bridge is scheduled to debut right around the corner (I'm talking within a week or two) and is definitely worth the wait. Don't buy the i3 now. I would expect the i5-3570K to more or less equal a 2600K.

That rig could do with some refining, ultimately it's how you build it and what you do with it too.

All the best! I'm sure you will enjoy it.

1 I said i would be getting a SSD and its just for windows bf3 and skyrim
2 I allrdy have the I3 2100 atm and its a decent Dual core.
3 Ivy bridge is close but its not that usefull. Most I7-I5 are still perfect for anything
4 Did u actualy read all of it or did i miss explain myself. No offence intended
Thanks for the reply

Haha I read the dude's response and was like WTF? then your post back at him, love it.

You'd be surprised how much a 500w PSU can handle, most people who "need" more are either fooling themselves, or are running multiple graphics cards and water cooling (or possibly a dickton of hard drives). Google Antec Wattage Calculator and put in your system specs for a rough estimate of how much power you really need.

The i3 is FOR SURE your bottleneck in that system (outside of the slow rpm drive you might be booting off of for awhile), but with the video card you'll be running it won't make too huge of a difference in gaming, especially since you're calling this a mid-range gaming PC, you seem to know what you want to expect. You've already talked about your upgrade path, and the i3 is fine for now.

BUY MORE RAM. Seriously, it's dirt cheap and it makes a HUGE difference. People will say it doesn't, fuck those people. If necessary, find a graphics card with 1gb on card ram (it doesn't make a difference) and buy an extra 4 gigs and your system will automatically make use of that for the video card.

My 2 cents on the Hard Drives, obviously you should wait a while till prices come down after the mishap in Taiwan, but save your money on the caviar blacks. Ive got a 1tb one as my main drive in my system, and its really fast, but it also runs hotter than other drievs. If youre looking for storage space, buy a 2tb caviar green or similar 5400rpm drive and since it will probably be cheaper use the money to buy a bigger ssd like you talked about and just run your important stuff off that. if you were thinking about raiding the 2 blacks, I dont know much about raid so I'll let someone else touch that if thats your choice.

Did that stuff make sense? I just type what I think as I think it, so sometimes it comes out a bit jumbled.

Thanks for the reply made alot of sense and was logical. The 2 black caviers are for recording. And the ssd for games I7 is for recording and games.Yeah i will get more ram 12 gigs abouts. And as i mentioned its for recording and so black caviers are my best option acording to most who use fraps.
