Iz SPANKING YOUR KID legal in the states???

For the past few days my dad has been threatening to hit me..i got suspended at school and he got PREETY ANGRY...so last friday he bought a strap and hung it in his study and i totally freaked out...HE HAS 2 BE BLUFFING RIGHT???he cant spank me...am 15!!!(is it legal in the states?)

Well believe it or not, he can spank you as long as it doesn't leave a permanent mark, and when I say permanent I mean a bruise or bleeding. Otherwise he is legally allowed to hit you.

In the US it is legal with a bare hand. I'm not sure about with an object though.

Although at 15 I doubt he would. Or that if he tried, you would just let him.

In the UK you can spank your child as long as:


No bruises or cuts ext.
Mark vanishes within 5-15 mins
No weapon is used that can cause serious harm
For no reason


Your dad might be bluffing but if he's not and you think it's getting serious then tell someone. I mean if it devolves into child abuse. If he has reason to and he does it firm but not over the top then there is little you can seriously do.

I mean if you called the cops or something they would look into it but as I am not from the USA I am not sure if it's illegal or what the situation is when it comes to spanking a child.

As for it being a bluff....answer yourself this...Do you really want to find out?

In aus its acully illegal...i think and in publuc. if you get caught doin it it its a price to [email protected]!
