You just have to go up to her and start talking, just say "Hey, how're you doing?" if you want to ask her out just start off a conversation and slip in "We should hang out sometime?"

Excuse me if I sound a bit stupid, I just haven't ever done this kinda stuff before.

No you don't sound stupid.

It might be a little awkward at first but I see no other way to approach her. Maybe obvious is the way to go, I mean you don't want to get friend-zoned or it would just be a waste of time. I think you just need to keep it straight and simple that you want to get to know her but don't act to cocky or like an ass, confidence is good though.

that's a setback, mabey even when you speak to her just start simple, be friendly and don't push too hard and take it from there, just be yourself and you'll be fine :)
