"No Devin, I am not getting you an SSD. They are way too expensive and it's not worth it"

JUMP 4 WEEKS LATER, AT AN ELECTRONIC STORE
Dad: (to the sales person) "Yeah, im interested in getting an SSD to run Windows on."
Me: -_________-
Yeah, sure dad. I'm sure that you can't afford a 100 dollar HD for your son, but you can spend 700 dollars on a brand new computer... fucking hypocrite.

Why don't you buy it with your money?
I want a Roland RD700NX and my dad will not buy it because i want it...if i want it i have to save untill i get enough money.
If it's something that i really need in the moment, my dad buys it...but when it's something that i want i have to save money to buy it

Everyone's a hypocrite. Maybe he's trying not to spoil you, or teach you the value of money or one of the other excuses that parents use. In a year, will it really matter? Save up for it or something, or ask for it as a birthday present.

I don't think you'll ever find someone who isn't a hypocrite. Parents think that one rule applys to them that somehow doesn't apply to us, well my parents do anyway. I know saying this wont help at all but the truth is there isn't much you can do. I mean it's his money after all and like Alex said if you want something then save up for it or ask for it as a present. Maybe if you put some money toward it, say half, then your Dad might pay the difference? Really you just have to find a way to work aroud it.
