I don't understand why i sometimes want to cut. I have the occasional depressing day but other than that life is good, so why do I sometimes get the random urges to cut? I probably would of started if I didn't worry about the pain.

I don't know. I have this same issue. Mostly because of pent up anxiety and other feelings, but it could be because your cutting is physically addictive. It releases endorphins, which make your body feel good. Cutting is just like any other addiction, hard to stop.

You mean you haven't started cutting?

Well, I think it's much less an urge to cut than an urge to do something radical and self-destructive, similar to how some kids are stoners, or regularly get their stomachs pumped cause of how much they drink, well you've got this impulse to cut.

Don't start though, it's really addictive and anyone can tell you that it fucks up your life more than you ever imagined.

I agree. I didn't realize you hadn't started. Please don't cut, it's a horrible thing to get into.

If not for the pain then why would you want to cut anyway?

Like Alex said, if you haven't started yet then please don't, it's not worth it. It just causes more pain both emotional and physical and that's not what you want or need.
We all get urges to do things. Sometimes I feel like opening the car door when we're going down the moterway or grabbing the stearing wheel. That doesn't mean I act on it though I've come close to thinking it's the right thing to do a lot of times.
Do things to take your mind off it, there are so many ways to take out emotion not just cutting. Music, take a walk, draw, sport, write it down. You could try just pinging an elastic band if you need to as well.
Nothing is worth cutting, you just need to keep that in mind.

Okay well just keep in mind that it isn't worth finding out. There are so many other ways to distract yourself from what youre feeling, cutting isn't the only option, far from it actually. I've listed some already but another would be to draw on your body instead, you could make the same actions as if you were cutting if you wish but it's a lot safer.

I cut to count how many times i get paranoid in a day :S

Sounds stupid, but it helps me notice how disgusting this habit truly is.
