Well the Day of Silence is coming up (friday) and I was just curious who would be participating. Do any of you guys plan on doing it? And by the way you're all awesome, just throwing that one out there.

I would be participating, but my string quartet has to tour all day on Friday, so it would be incredibly impractical for me to remain silent the entire time; I'll be silent in spirit. :P

At the school I was at last year, we made t-shirts for Day of Silence, and I still wear those regularly, however I'm unable to participate this year unfortunately.

I can't do it, I have an appointment with my therapist and if I don't talk it will not be the point. However, I will show my pride in other ways.

I will once I am done with my class, I sit right in front of the professor and she always chats with me...

The National Day of Silence is a day of action in which students across the country vow to take a form of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools.

This seems great, but it's my birthday tomorrow and I can't not talk to people. But as someone said earlier I will remain silent in spirit :)

I would participate, but I go to an extremely tolerant, accepting high school, so my silence really wouldn't accomplish anything. I did it freshman year as did about half the student body. It was more symbolic than anything because I've never seen anyone being bullied for their sexuality at my school. If I went anywhere else, I would definitely take part proudly and loudly (so to speak). I'm pretty lucky to be where I am, and I wish that same luck to all of you who are staying silent tomorrow!

A Few of my friends and I did it. It was not really how I expected it though, I feel it could have been more productive if we weren't silent an spoke out. I plan on doing that next year since it is another option on how to participate that day

I participated! Except, I quit in 4th period because I really really needed to communicate or it would have been impossible for me to function in that class.

I was silent in spirit. And I didn't carry on any conversations that I didn't need to have, so I think I participated as well as I could :D

I would just like to add my bit of input into this "Day of Silence" thing.

My high school was one full of people who felt the need to speak out(Or silence down) for this. But the fact was that almost close to none of them were doing it for the right reasons. The majority, and I really do mean almost ALL OF THEM, who participated were those who considered themselves outcasts in the school. They would openly let you know they were only participating in order to seem different, and rebel. Covering themselves in duck tape with X's, signs saying "Day of Silence" and huge fights (with them not even speaking) in the hallways with those who pointed out they weren't actually doing it for the cause.

I sure hope none of you are like that.
