I noticed about a day ago that my armpits started to smell. I have no armpit hair, but i would consider myself a good ways into puberty. Its not like my normal sweaty after sports type smell, its different and i dislike it. Does anyone know what this means, am i growing armpit hair, or is there something else happening here. Any thoughts or opinions as to whats would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You're hitting puberty, I started getting body odor around the 7th grade I believe.

bacteria causes armpit odor. You naturally have that bacteria on your body, but heat, dampness, dark causes it to multiply fast and a lot of bacteria causes odor, there is really nothing you can do about it that will for sure make it go away but there are a couple of things you can try

1) use an anti-bacterial soap, this will not totally rid you of these bacteria but it will noticeably lessen the odor because it takes longer for the bacteria to build up again. I personally don't agree with using products like these, but some people swear by them.
2) Most important, use deodorant! It smells good and gives your pits a fresh and clean smell!
3) There are some kinds of crystals that lessen the sweating...I don't know much about them but I have seen them, but sweating is good, so again I wouldn't use them , but to each their own

That's all I got, good luck!

Yup... Pits smell. Not much you can do to stop it, but you can cover it up and try to make it smell less by cleaning your pits more.

I asked my friend about this very same thing. He said when a boy hits 14 yrs old or so, the chemical composition of his armpit sweat changes. And that's what makes them reek to High Heaven.

I shave my pits and I use Right Guard gel, so I have the odor pretty much under control.

As said, youre hitting puberty. There isnt much you can do other than wear deodorant. I like a dry stick vs a gel because it blocks the sweat more.

Most people seem to be advising that you use deodorant, however I would recommend that you at least try an antiperspirant. In my experience that actually stops your from sweating for a long time, rather than masking and mixing with the smell which is what deodorant does.
