Hello, i have my first ever CAMHS (Children and Adolesent Mental Health Services) appointment tomorow. Its for self-harm. Im terrified. My parents are coming. I dont want them in the room when I talk to the person. Do they have to be there? Will they ask me to show them? What kinds of things so they ask?
Help me.

This will be your initial assessment it won't be too bad, honest.
When I went they first had me and my mother in the room together before seeing us separately and then recovering again to discuss the course of treatmeant.
They asked basic stuff when we were together all the family history, my history, who lived with me etc, then they asked about why we were here. For me like you it was self harm although also suicidal thoughts and idealisation.
When I was alone we discussed how I felt, triggers and things in more detail. As I was there for sucidal thoughts we went into that too.

No they won't ask to see what you've done although they may give you information on caring for your injuries though.

I know it's scary as hell but it will be okay afterwards. Good luck :)

Hey, I had my 1st camhs appointment the other week, they were really nice. They could tell that I wasn't seeking with my mother there, so they asked her if they could talk to me alone x x there is nothing to worry about x x
