I had a pretty easy day today, it was my "day-off". I woke up a little earlier today to go on my run because my cousins were coming over, when I came back home from my run I did a quick recovery work out (just consisted of walking a slow pace on the treadmill). I felt fine even throughout the day, I played soccer with my younger cousins and then left for a long soccer training session. When I returned home, I felt normal then too. But a few hours later I started feeling my right ankle. I just can't apply too much pressure on it, it twitches and shakes when I do. It almost feels lighter and weaker than my left. I'm fine with bending it "downward", like I can bend it to kick the soccer ball with the laces of my shoes, but I just can't apply pressure to it or bend it "inward/upward". This same thing happened yesterday but I shook it off and passed it off as nothing when everything subsided. I tried taping it but it doesn't do much to help support it or provide much relief and I'm icing it quite a bit. I know I just tweaked my ankle or mildly sprained it, I just want to know if there are any good workouts to get the strength back in it, just any tips/suggestons that would help at this point; and possibly how to prevent this same thing from happening in the future. I'm getting kind of desperate because this happens quite a few times during the season and I play under the lights in a tournament in a few days so I just want to get as much strength back in that ankle and heal before then, so any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (:

Thanks!

Okay, here is what I would do...

Talk to your athletic trainer, that is why you have them, please use him/her...

They have the required training and education to deal with injuries like this and would be the appropriate person to ask.

Until you can see your trainer I would take the RECOMMENDED dosage of ibuprofen and ice your ankle for 15 minutes and then rest without ice for 20...repeat this a few times and go easy on the ankle, do not do more than you have to do...

Alright, thanks for that; I'll definitely do that. (: I'm talking to my athletic trainer tomorrow, thank you again!

Yeah your doing everything right, Icing, Taping etc. Just try to stay off it until you speak to your trainer. I'm a trainer myself, but without examining it I can't say. Just one thing, check your shoes/joggers, as I have many people coming to me with lower extremity problems, due to their joggers either being to old (should get new ones every 3 months for active runners), or not suited to the sport.

But yeah, keep doing what your doing, and see your trainer :)

Thank you too. (: I'm thinking back a little bit and remember that I did sometimes wear these old Nike shoes for jogging. Apparently Nike made a brand of shoes for a short period of time that you weren't supposed to necessarily use for jogging, and I was using that brand of shoe a few times just for that purpose. That also could of contributed to the problems in my ankle. Thank you for that too -- I would've never known! (:

Just be careful. I have a lot of ankle problems, not fun. If I were you, ice it, stretch it gently (when something similar to this happened to my cousin, she had to write the abc's in the air with her toes) and tape it up if you have to walk around and stuff. But talking to your trainer is a very good idea. Good luck!

Oh, writing the abc's in the air is a great idea, I think I remember having to do that for track awhile ago; I'll have to remember to do that before soccer training tonight. Thank you too for posting your advice! (:

Everyone has been so helpful; thank you all again, I appreciate it a lot!
