Who has tried this?
I'm 17 and it's very likely, actually almost certain, that I will be moving away alone in September when I start uni.
I'm excited even though I have a pretty good family relationship.

I don't want to. I'm dreading college.

1. dorm room living
2. food
I don't want to share a dorm and I am a picky eater so I'll really be missing my mom's cooking. :/

Ah fair enough.
What exactly is a dorm room? At your intended institution dont you have a bedroom?

A dorm room is what they call the bed rooms at college (university). If you're dorming, then you live on campus and pay to live in the provided living arrangements. You usually share the dorm room with one roommate.

I see. Over here we call them halls and you have your own little bedroom and share a bathroom and kitchen with 5 others(usually known as a flat) and you're common room is 1 between 40.

The first 2 years of boarding school sucked camel's scrotum.

Will stay with family for at least another year (until I finish high school), but after that I would gladly move out into a flat or something.
If affordable, on my own; if not, with a flatmate/flatmates.
I like living on my own - if my family want to go on holiday to a place I don't like, I just stay behind at home alone for a week or so :D 'Tis fun!

I'm off to Uni (hopefully) this September aswell, alone, it'll be great, think of all the new people you'll meet! Everyone in your halls will be thinking the same, crapping themselves about living with other people that they've never met, having to cook, clean and look after themselves. Think of it as the start of adult life, learning responsibility, etc.
Get off our parent backs and go out, make friends and go out every night! Damn it I can't wait :D

1. I live alone.
2. I cook.
That solved my situation.. does that solve yours?

As much as I'd miss my family, I'm very excited to experience that kind of independence. I plan to study abroad so... We'll see.

I cannot wait to get away from my parents jumping down my throat about all the little stuff.

I live on my own as we speak. I constantly consider moving back home even though I moved out because we had a horrible relationship while I lived there. The price of living alone can be scary at times, but it's rather nice to have my own apartment, car, job, and be able to come and go as I please without anyone but my super nosy neighbors questioning me.

I can't wait to go to uni and live alone although this time last year I was dreading it but I think I've matured in this year and will probably do so more in this coming year.
As strange as it sounds i'm really excited to have that relationship with my parents we don't get on all that well and I think living away will improve that relationship I'll be able to have purely social phonecalls and we won't be in each others way :)

well I'm studying at the boarding school so I moved out two years ago.
Not sure, sometimes I miss my family badly, but it's fun to live like that.
I think that true family bonds can't be hurt by this.

I am going to boarding school, so I am moving out next year. I am going to enjoy it, but I will really miss my family. Of course, I won't be upset about having more independence...
