Well I find that gives the opponent an unfair advantage, since they can look up moves, and also it can be very slow. I suggest using something like lichess.org to play online in real time.

I stopped playing competitively when I hit middle school, it became the asian nerd den and I just didn't fit in haha :D I used to be captain of my school team every season and I've seen everything from two hour duels to winning a championship game on the four-move checkmate (back when we were like 10). Been a long time since I sat by the checkered board.

Never played chess before, I have been willing to learn because it feels like it would be slightly beneficial.
